About me and my therapy practice

Life can feel overwhelming sometimes — whether it’s relationships, work stress, grief, or self-doubt, we all go through periods when things feel harder than usual. You might be considering counselling because:

• You’re going through a tough patch and want a safe, confidential space to talk things through.

• You’re stuck on a decision and need support to explore your options.

• You’re ready to make changes but finding it harder than expected.

• You’re reflecting on past experiences and want to understand them better so you can move forward.

• You’re feeling stuck in cycles of overthinking, constant worry, or low mood that’s starting to take its toll.

Counselling gives you space to pause, reflect, and make sense of what’s going on — without pressure or judgement. I’ll work with you to explore what’s beneath the surface, understand how it’s shaping your experience, and consider what might help you feel more settled and supported.

CBT — but not the NHS version!

If you’ve had CBT through the NHS and found it frustrating, you’re not alone. Many clients have shared their experiences of endless paperwork and a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach. CBT with me is different. I don’t offer pure CBT — instead, I integrate its practical tools into a broader, more flexible approach. We can use CBT techniques alongside talking therapy, adapting them to suit your pace and what’s happening in your life. It’s not about ticking boxes or filling out forms — it’s about finding strategies that genuinely help you shift patterns and feel more in control.

I offer inclusive, non-judgemental support to help you tune into your own voice and treat yourself with more kindness — whether you’re navigating worry, communication challenges, self-acceptance, or lifestyle concerns like time-management and decision-making. My approach is warm, thoughtful, and practical, and I welcome clients whether they’re feeling overwhelmed, unsure, or simply open to exploring what might shift.

Do get in touch when you're ready.

Practice description

I bring a blend of professional training and lived experience to my counselling practice. I hold a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling, a BSc in Psychology, and a Certificate in Online & Telephone Counselling. These allow me the flexibility to tailor sessions to suit your individual needs and preferences.

I’ve supported clients through charities and private agencies, offering counselling and assessments online, by phone, and in person. My time volunteering with the Samaritans deepened my appreciation for the value of simply having space to talk — and be heard.

Before retraining as a counsellor, I worked in office environments, particularly legal settings, and understand the pressures of deadlines, commuting, and work-life balance.

Originally from New Zealand, I’ve travelled widely and now call London home. I understand the emotional layers of emigration — from homesickness and culture shock to identity shifts and long-distance relationships — and bring that insight into my work with clients.

I currently offer online and telephone sessions on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, as well as Fridays from 9am to 6pm. Sessions are 60 minutes long and typically held on a weekly basis, though we can discuss what suits you best.

You’re welcome to choose open-ended counselling, continuing for as long as it feels helpful, or we can agree on a set timeframe and review as we go. I work with adults (18+) on an individual basis.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ), I adhere to their ethical standards. I’m fully insured and trained in online and telephone counselling, ensuring your experience is safe, professional, and comfortable. I aim to offer a space that feels steady, respectful, and genuinely supportive.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute telephone conversation so you can share what’s on your mind, ask questions, and get a sense of how we might work together — with no pressure or obligation.

If you decide to book a first full session, we’ll take time to explore what’s brought you to counselling and what you’d like to get out of it. This initial session may feel a little more focused, as we begin to understand your situation and consider what support might be most helpful. There’s no formal assessment or paperwork — just space to talk, reflect, and begin shaping a way forward together.

Some clients arrive with a clear goal in mind, while others are still working out what they need. Either way is welcome. You don’t need to prepare anything in advance, and there’s no expectation to share more than feels comfortable.

Sessions are 60 minutes long and typically held weekly, though we can discuss what suits you best. You’re welcome to choose open-ended counselling or agree on a set number of sessions and review as we go.

If you’d like to begin with a brief call, feel free to get in touch — I’d be glad to hear from you.
