About me and my therapy practice

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I am an accredited psychotherapist with over 10 years’ experience supporting adults, children, and young people through life’s challenges.

My style is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I will work alongside you at your pace, helping you explore what’s going on and find ways to feel more in control of your life. Many of the people I see come to me with difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, work-related stress, trauma, panic, or phobias, but you don’t need a label to reach out. Whatever you are facing, I aim to provide a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and genuinely supported.

I also have experience leading community projects with families who live with complex challenges, so I understand how tough it can feel when life feels overwhelming. Alongside my therapy work, I train others in areas such as suicide prevention (ASIST), Scotland’s Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA), counselling skills, trauma awareness, self-harm, and wellbeing.

If you’re considering therapy, you’ve already taken a really positive first step. I’d be glad to walk alongside you as you explore the next one.

Practice description

As a therapist, I offer a safe, supportive space where you can pause, reflect, and explore what’s happening in your life. My role is to walk alongside you on your journey of self-discovery, helping you to understand yourself more deeply and make meaningful choices that feel right for you.

I work as a Play Therapist with children from the age of 4, and as a Psychotherapist supporting young people and adults. My approach is empathetic, non-judgmental, and collaborative. I provide emotional support while offering a fresh perspective from outside your usual circle of family and friends.

Together, we can explore the difficulties you are facing in a way that helps you gain new insights and a greater sense of clarity. Therapy is not about me giving you answers, it is about creating the conditions where you feel empowered to find your own solutions and take steps towards positive change.

My first session

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely natural to feel a little nervous about your first session. My aim is to make that first meeting feel welcoming, safe, and unrushed. Together, we’ll take time to talk about what has brought you here, what you hope for, and what feels most important to you right now. There is no pressure to share everything at once, you set the pace, and I will be alongside you every step of the way.

In our first session, I will explain how therapy works and answer any questions you may have. We’ll talk about what you can expect from me and how we can work together in a way that feels supportive and manageable for you. This is also a chance for you to get a sense of whether my approach feels like a good fit.

For children coming to Play Therapy, the first session is often about helping them settle into the space and begin to feel comfortable. Through play, they are able to express feelings and experiences in their own way. I gently support them in this process while keeping parents or carers involved in a supportive role.

For young people and adults, the first session may be more conversational. It’s an opportunity to reflect on your experiences, your challenges, and your hopes for change. I provide a confidential, non-judgmental space where you can begin to share openly, knowing that you are being listened to with empathy and respect.

Therapy is not about me giving you solutions or telling you what to do. Instead, it’s about working together to help you gain new perspectives, build self-understanding, and feel empowered to make choices that move you towards positive change.

Above all, the first session is about beginning a supportive relationship where you feel safe, understood, and not alone with what you are carrying. From here, we can begin to explore your journey at a pace that feels right for you.
