About me and my therapy practice

"The principle aim of psychotherapy is not to transport one to an impossible state of happiness, but to help (the client) acquire steadfastness and patience in the face of suffering. " - C.G. Jung.

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming and it's no surprise that many clients I've seen have expressed hope for a solution or quick fix to their problems. Though understandable, the unpredictability of life means that challenges are inevitable, and although I can't promise a quick fix, I can offer you the opportunity to unpack and explore these difficulties and help to better equip you to manage these challenges.

Therapy can help to illuminate and create new understandings of how historical relationships and events may impact current behavioural patterns, thought processes and relational dynamics. The therapeutic relationship we build can be seen as means to facilitate the navigation of this process and create positive change.

I recognise that each of us is unique and consider each person not in isolation but instead, within the context of their distinct lived experience. This is reflected in my integrative therapeutic approachwhich draws together humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural schools of thought. In therapy, I attempt to gain an understanding of the world from your perspective and create a space in which you feel secure enough for us to explore and work through whatever may be troubling you.

Practice description

I offer one-to-one, 50-minute sessions of brief/time-limited, or open-ended therapy to adults.

I have worked with people from various backgrounds and life experiences. I also carry a personal awareness of how our differences may impact our experience and perspective of the world and our relationships. In therapy, I attempt to gain an understanding of the world from the client's perspective and create a space in which an individual feels able to explore whatever may be troubling them.

I have experience working with clients whose difficulties surround sexuality, gender identity and expression, relationships, anxiety, depression, abuse, trauma, PTSD, discrimination, religion and spirituality, among other struggles.

I have worked with charities offering brief and long-term counselling to adults and adolescents, and have also provided counselling with organisations offering holistic support for trans and/or non-binary people (who may/may not also identify as LGBQ+).

I am a qualified integrative relational therapist and an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ).

My first session

I know first-hand that finding a therapist you're comfortable with can be difficult, so I offer a free, 30 minute initial consultation before starting therapy. This is to allow you the space to determine whether I might be someone you'd like to work with, without any pressure to proceed with counselling.

This meeting also provides you with the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and enables me to gain some understanding of your unique needs alongside what hopes and expectations you may hold for therapy.

I offer a sliding scale based on individual circumstances and accept Bupa insurance where applicable.
