About me and my therapy practice

Would you say your childhood was fine but can't identify many times where you felt happy? Do you experience feelings of emptiness, struggle in relationships, or find yourself always doing things for other people? Do you feel like you have never fit in, or that you have to be someone else when you are around other people? Has something changed in your life and now you're finding it hard to adjust? Do you struggle to understand why you do some of the things you do?

These are common feelings among the people I work with.

I have special interest and experience in;

• child and adult relationships, insecure attachment, personality and identity development, considering parenthood, pregnancy, parenting, separation and loss, young carers, boarding school, families of clergy, young parents, childhood emotional and physical neglect and abuse, adverse childhood experiences, individuation, self image, trauma, childhood experience of social services.

• long-term health conditions, disability, diagnosis, carers, life limiting conditions and end of life.

• neurodivergence, sensory needs, identified as sensitive or gifted in childhood, difference, gender incongruence, identity, gender nonconforming.

• relationship with the body, body image, weight, bariatric surgery.

• career changes, life changes, burnout, disillusionment, ambition and reaching your potential, making difficult decisions.

I celebrate diversity and I recognise that many people do not always feel welcome, recognised, or respected for at least one part of their identity. I aim to provide a safe and inclusive space where clients feel able to be the whole of themselves.

Practice description

I offer sessions via video call, email/messaging, and by phone.

I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental therapeutic space that also brings a sense of calm, warmth, and openness.

It can be difficult to reach out but when you feel ready you are more than welcome to get in touch.

My first session

Therapy can look different for everyone, and we will talk about what therapy might look like for you. Some people have one hour at the same time every week, others have shorter or longer sessions, more or less frequently. Your needs may change as therapy progresses.

When you contact me by phone, voicemail, text, WhatsApp, email or contact form, I will get back to you to arrange an initial call. We will be able to talk about what you are looking for and decide together if I am the right therapist for you.

After the initial conversation, we will complete an assessment where I will ask you questions about your past and present mental and physical health, relationships, and background. This can be done in one session of around 2 hours but it can be completed over a period of sessions if that will work best for you. Following the assessment, we will have a better idea of your needs, how to meet them, and what that may involve for you.

The most important thing is that you feel safe, willing, and able to talk to me.

Some useful information:

  • When you call I may not be able to answer and you will be prompted to leave a voicemail message. I will listen to your message and return your call if you request it. If you do not want to leave a voicemail you can text, WhatsApp, or email me requesting a call/message back. If you call without leaving/sending a message I will assume you do not want me to return the call.
  • If you can, please let me know when is best to contact you, and whether it is okay to leave a message.
  • When I phone you, the number will display as private.
  • My Privacy Notice is available to download from my website.

Availability

I have some flexibility with availability. Typically, I offer supervision Wednesday to Friday 2-7pm.

About me and my therapy practice

Working with my supervisees, I facilitate in-depth, ethically minded case discussion from different perspectives, encourage professional development, and consider interactions between professional and personal life. I provide one-to-one and group supervision.

In supervision, I use the seven eyed model of supervision and draw from the integrated developmental model, and systemic thinking. My supervision is informed by my therapeutic background and prior. As a therapist, I work integratively and my therapeutic background is psychodynamic counselling, psychoanalytic observation, and psychology. I draw from IFS, EMDR, and solution focused therapy, and I work creatively.

I work with all helping professionals e.g. counsellors, psychotherapists, project workers, social workers, health visitors, emergency service workers.

Practice description

I specialise in complex cases, insecure attachment, neurodivergence, difference, adult, child, relationships, PTSD, anxiety, depression, long-term health conditions, end of life, disability, wider helping professions, identity, self-image.

I work with supervisees to look at their clients and their clients’ systems, and themselves and their own systems (including the supervisee-supervisor relationship) from different perspectives. I observe the requirements from registering bodies and act as an independent party in pursuit of best practice for clients.

Supervisees may be looking for a supervisor because they are in training, newly qualified, making a change, looking for a different perspective, or with a specific professional need. I support supervisees to make changes, develop as a professional, grow as a business, move to online practice, rebalance personal and professional life.

I celebrate diversity in the profession, in our clients, and in us all, and I recognise that many people do not always feel welcome, recognised, or respected for at least one part of their identity. I aim to provide a safe and inclusive space where supervisees and clients feel able to be the whole of themselves.

I have an online booking system which allows you to manage your bookings, make payment online, and is tailored to your needs and availability. If you prefer, I am happy to book the sessions on your behalf.

My first session

I offer a 30-minute call free of charge so that we can see if I am a good fit for your needs.

There is a form which asks about your background and your supervision needs which can be completed when you book an appointment, or we can complete it in a session if you prefer.

You will receive a terms of working agreement which you will be asked to sign if we start working together.
