Availability
As of August 2025 I currently have availability for new clients. I have varied availability across the week including some morning, afternoon and evening sessions in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
About me and my therapy practice
Welcome
You don’t have to be at breaking point to come to therapy - if something is weighing on you, it matters, even if everything looks fine on the outside.
Many of us try to carry things alone, thinking we should be able to cope with everything life can bring us. Sometimes the heaviness becomes too much and we can start to feel anxious, depressed or overwhelmed. Even if you have people around you , it might feel hard to share what you are going through or you don’t want to burden them with your issues.
Counselling offers a space to slow down and explore what's going on beneath the surface. A place where you can speak freely, without pressure and begin to make sense of what feels difficult for you in a supportive and confidential space
How I work
I offer a warm and reliable space where you can bring whatever you are carrying . I take the time to understand you and your unique story with care, curiosity and free of judgement.
I work from a psychodynamic perspective which means I am interested in how your past might be shaping your present: in your emotions, relationships, patterns of behaviour and the way you see yourself. Often these patterns are hard to spot on your own but exploring them in therapy can help you make sense of your experiences and reach a deeper understanding of yourself. As things become clearer, change feels more possible.
Working Together
Although I will encourage you to talk and reflect on many parts of your life, you do not have to talk about anything you do not wish to and we will always work at your pace. There are no expectations to show up in any particular way.
I aim to help you to discover what is important to you and help you find your own answers that align with your values and beliefs. I will also aim to support you in making meaningful changes in your life, helping you to improve the quality of the relationship you have with yourself and with others.
Practice description
I am an experienced qualified psychodynamic counsellor and therapist working with adults in private practice in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
Sessions are available in person in my therapy room in St Albans (with free parking) or online or by telephone, whichever feels right for you. I offer both long term therapy as well as short-term therapy. We can explore what feels most helpful for you. I also offer a free initial 50 minute session.
Cultural Sensitivity
I am especially experienced in supporting people who grew up with diverse or conflicting cultural values. I very much welcome people from all religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and work with sensitivity and respect for individual differences. I have particular experience supporting those who have grown up navigating diverse or conflicting cultural values. Together we can explore identity, belonging, generational expectations and the challenges that come with balancing multiple cultural influences.
Neurodiversity
I also have experience working with individuals with ADHD and/or Autism and I recognise how this can shape how you see and move through the world. There is a deep emotional impact of growing up neuro-divergent in a world that often does not validate your experience. I can offer you a space where these messages can be spoken about and understood - a space where you can feel safe, accepted and free to be fully yourself.
Getting Started
You might feel certain that therapy is what you need or perhaps you may still be feeling unsure. I offer a free 50 minute initial session which gives us time to talk through what’s bringing you to therapy and I am to happy to answer any questions you have.
Other work I do
As well as my private practice I am a Clinical Manager at The Counselling Foundation in St Albans and Luton, where I support students with their clinical work.
I am a registered member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ and I work in accordance with their Code of Ethics and Standards of Good Practice.
My first session
I offer a free 50 minute initial session which gives us time to talk through what’s bringing you to therapy and I am to happy to answer any questions you have. If you decide you would like to continue working together we can agree a mutually suitable time and day to meet on a weekly basis.

About me and my therapy practice
My approach is warm, grounded and collaborative. My main way of working is psychodynamic which means that I believe that many of our present feelings, emotions and thinking are influenced by our early relationships with parents/carers and from our childhood experiences. These experiences can shape the way we are as adults. I will work with you so we can seek to understand how those influences might be impacting you now. My aim is to help you reach a better understanding of yourself offering you my insight, understanding and support.
Therapy offers a space to slow down, speak freely and explore and untangle what may be going on beneath the surface in a calm, supportive and confidential space
You don’t have to be at breaking point to seek therapy - if something is weighing on you, it matters, even if everything looks fine on the outside. Sometimes we struggle alone believing we should be able to cope with the many challenges and difficulties that life brings. Even if we do have family and friends to talk to, sometimes we don’t want to burden them with our difficulties.
Maybe you are carrying grief that no one sees or anxiety that shapes the way you move through life. Perhaps you are struggling with self-doubt, low self-esteem or generally dissatisfied with how life is for you right now or don’t know exactly what feels wrong.
You might be feeling frustrated with repeating relationship patterns that feel hard to understand and change or struggling with intimacy and communication. I believe that these patterns are rooted in our earliest relationships and I will help you understand these patterns at a deeper level and help work out a way to move forward with more clarity and confidence.
Maybe you are single by choice and want to explore other issues that are important to you beyond a romantic partnership. Therapy can help you navigate a life that may look different from the norm but still holds much meaning, value, love and connection.
