About me and my therapy practice
Hi my name is Nicole and I am an accredited counsellor with a qualification in working with Attachment Based Psychotherapy.
I have worked with a wide range of clients, including grief work, domestic abuse, childhood trauma, anger issues, interpersonal relationship difficulties and attachment therapy.
Along with Person Centred/Integrative Counselling, I also offer Attachment Based Psychotherapy, this is a form of therapy that works with our attachment triggers, these attachment defences are often developed from childhood and I work in a way that helps you recognise how your past could be influencing your current life, be that with work or relationships, and how your Inner Working Model (early life experiences that shape our self-image and beliefs) could be triggering your defences and impacting your life.
Attachment focused therapy for adults is beneficial by helping clients overcome their negative self image and learn a healthier way to deal with their relationships with themselves and others, by working with your attachment focused therapist to help you develop a secure attachment style.
Attachment theory therapy has helped numerous clients to really focus on their behaviours and give them a greater understanding of who they are, relieving the pressure to be perfect, with an attachment lens in therapy we aim to give you a greater empathy for yourself by really understanding how behaviours can be learnt and used in the past to survive.
It could be that being in a relationship triggers an intense fear of abandonment, or it could be the opposite, being in a relationship feels too difficult because the thought of relying on someone feels alien to you so you detach from people easily, Attachment focused therapy looks at these responses and we work through how and why they have developed, with knowledge comes the power to be able to change these behaviours if they are impacting you negatively.
