About me and my therapy practice
I am a Humanistic Adult Counsellor (BA Hons) and an Advanced Counsellor for Children and Young People (CPCAB, Level 5). I am also nearing completion of a MSc Psychology of Coercive Control. I am also a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MÍø±¬ÃÅ).
I have a diverse employment background and extensive experience working with communities both in the UK and internationally. My lived experiences and travels have given me the privilege of connecting with cultures different from the one I was born into. These experiences have deepened my holistic sense of wellbeing, broadened my worldview, and shaped the way I relate to others and deliver my therapeutic practice.
I provide Face-to- Face or Online Counselling for adults, children and young people from my counselling room in Llansamlet, Swansea. However, I also cover the surrounding area including Neath, Pontardawe, Birchgrove, Clydach, Gower, Mumbles, Sketty, Ty-Coch and online anywhere !
Prices start from £60 for sessions between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
(Evening sessions and Saturday counselling sessions are available on request),
Each session lasts for 50 minutes.
Practice description
As your therapist, I work integrativley, and will draw on approaches such as person centred, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Gestalt and Transactional analysis (TA). This means I tailor therapy to suit your individual needs, rather than using a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
I work with a wide range of issues including Bereavement and loss, Anxiety and Depression, issues of Identity, Separation or divorce, the LGBTQ community and with women's and men's mental health.
I have specialist experience in working with domestic abuse and violence (DV) and Coercive Control.
This also include working with the trauma of childhood and adult Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES).
Coercive Control includes high intensity groups, such as Gangs, Cults and spiritual abuse.
Interestingly coercive control and psychological abuse also exists within organisations, in the workplace and families.
The counselling relationship begins with how we connect in the therapy room and creating a space where you feel safe, heard and we can work at a pace that feels manageable to you. Here we can collaborate on the challenges you face together and explore how we can overcome them.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute introductory assessment online or over the phone where I can answer any questions you may have and take a few details necessary to the process.
We will also discuss the working contract and arrange a suitable time for you to begin therapy if you feel we are a good fit.
This enables us to begin our work together from your first paid session
