Please do enquire and together we can find a mutually suitable time.

About me and my therapy practice

I approach counselling from a broadly humanistic and person-centred perspective. This means that you are at the centre of the process and the sessions are guided by whatever you wish to bring into the counselling room, at a pace determined by you.

You are the expert on your life, not me. I won’t give you advice, tell you what to do or insist that you are thinking about things in the wrong way. We will meet in the therapy room as equals.

I provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space for you to talk about whatever you wish. The focus will be on building a therapeutic relationship together and it is from within the boundaries of this relationship that the therapy takes place: you will develop a deeper level of self-awareness and understanding, and this in turn will help you to tackle the issues that brought you to the therapy room in the first place.

I am also trained in delivering CBT therapy and can offer elements of this if together we feel that you might benefit from this.

In addition to my general counselling qualifications, I also hold a foundation Diploma in Working with Trauma.

As well as my varied private practice I have worked for many years as a counsellor at a local hospice and also within a secondary school setting. I have worked for many charities over the years as a volunteer including CRUSE, Safer Places, Place2Be and Trust Links.

Practice description

I am able to offer you face to face counselling sessions in either our Leigh on Sea or Southend counselling rooms. I am also able to meet with you online, if this works better in your particular circumstances. All sessions are 50 minutes in length. We can work together in the short term or the long term, whichever suits you best. As the sessions progress, I will regularly check-in with you on the effectiveness of the therapy and I welcome your honest feedback.

Much of my current experience in the hospice is working with the bereaved and those facing a life-limiting diagnosis (and their carers). However, my practice and experience are far broader than this. Bereavement itself throws up a huge assortment of underlying issues, from trauma in childhood to relationship breakdown. Please do get in touch.
