About me and my therapy practice
Talking therapy can make all the difference to our wellbeing. I take into consideration each individual's situation and offer the help most appropriate for them.
We can all suffer from emotional difficulties at certain times in our lives, and the reasons why can be complex and diverse. It can be challenging to reflect on difficult and often complicated thoughts, emotions and events - past and present - and can be hard to make that first step to begin speaking openly about them.
Psychodynamic/psychoanalytic counselling and therapy offers a safe and confidential space where you can talk and think with your therapist about your difficulties and can bring about an understanding of self, helping ease emotional pain, enhancing relationships, and altering harmful habits and behaviours.
We will meet once a week at the same time on the same day.
Practice description
I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor (MÍø±¬ÃÅ) and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist (UKCP).
Before training to become a therapist, I worked for most of my life in the professional services sector in the City. I have also trained as an actor. Therefore, I have a wide-ranging body of experience that I can draw upon in my practice - and I’m particularly well-placed to understand the pressures of a working life in the City and the demands of the creative process.
My therapeutic practice is also informed by lived experience of loss and trauma, which enables me to support my clients with both empathy and understanding.
My first session
Please send an email.
We will arrange a time for a brief chat, usually no more than 15 minutes, on the phone when we can arrange a date and time for an initial consultation if appropriate.
The initial consultation usually lasts 50. Sometimes it is helpful to have two initial consultations.
In the session(s) we will discuss what has brought you to therapy. It gives me the opportunity to learn a bit about you and your background. I will ask some practical questions. It is a space where we can think together about your difficulties and about what sort of help might be appropriate and possible. It is also a time when you can bring up any queries you may have about my approach and the therapy process.
Most importantly, it gives us the opportunity to get a sense of whether we can work together.
If we both decide to proceed with the therapy, we will arrange the date and time for our sessions going forward.
