About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Danielle, founder of Anima Talk 鈥 a counselling, EMDR, and wellbeing service offering affordable, high-quality therapy.
馃寪 www.animatalk.co.uk
I'm an experienced therapist and work with people facing a range of challenges, including overwhelm, low mood, relationship or family issues, identity, trauma (past and present), addiction, grief, and work-related stress.
Clients often describe me as approachable and 鈥渁 real human being.鈥 This may be because I see the counselling relationship as a meeting of two people working together toward a shared goal: improving your life.
Published Research supports the view, that the most reliable predictor of lasting positive outcomes is not the type of therapy used, but the quality of the therapeutic relationship itself.
I frame my work through a pluralistic lens 鈥 an approach to therapy based on the idea that:
"Different people need different things at different times."
So while I鈥檓 rooted in Person-Centred Therapy, I also draw on techniques from other evidence-based approaches, including CBT and Psychodynamic Therapy, to tailor support to your needs.
I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) as a standalone treatment or integrated with talking therapy. EMDR can involve visual, auditory, or tactile (bilateral) stimulation to help process trauma and emotional distress.
For those looking for focused, short-term support, I also provide a 90-minute online Single Session Therapy (SST).
I aim to offer an inclusive, accessible practice, with sessions starting from 拢45, and concessionary rates of 拢30 available for online daytime sessions.
Alongside private practice, I also work with charities, corporate clients, and government services, and offer group wellbeing sessions for organisations.
Practice description
I specialise in helping you find a way through life鈥檚 difficulties by working collaboratively to create a therapeutic approach that suits you. This might involve giving you time and space to explore things at your own pace, or using a more directive style with evidence-based exercises, tools, and techniques to support your everyday life.
I view mental health in the same way we think about physical health鈥攕omething that can benefit from regular care and attention. For those looking to explore personal or professional development, I also offer wellbeing check-ins, which use a solution-focused approach to support goal-setting and self-growth.
I work in a trauma-informed way and have experience supporting people through a range of adverse experiences鈥攆rom difficult childhoods to more recent or ongoing challenges. Whether trauma is historical or present, we can explore it through talking therapy with a focus on gaining a better understanding of what happened, how it's impacting your day to day life and what can be done to improve things. Saying that, I'm also here to provide a listening ear, time and space if all the above feels a little overwhelming right now.
I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) to reduce the emotional disturbance of specific traumatic memories.
I offer Single Session Therapy (SST) as a structured, stand-alone session focusing on a specific issue. Together, we work to find a solution or establish helpful next steps. These may include personal actions, signposting to further support, or ongoing counselling. SST can be one-off or repeated on an ad-hoc basis. A written summary of the session, including agreed outcomes, is available on request for an additional fee.
We are all wonderfully unique. I will respect and honour your lived experience. I have worked with people exploring gender, sexuality, race, and neurodiversity, and I鈥檓 committed to providing an inclusive and affirming therapeutic space.
My first session
Our first session is very much an introduction.
It鈥檚 a chance for you to share what鈥檚 brought you to counselling, ask any questions, and get a sense of what it鈥檚 like to talk with me. I鈥檒l do a little more of the talking than I usually would in future sessions鈥攇athering some personal details (which are kept confidential), explaining how I work, and exploring which therapeutic approach might suit you best.
You may be new to counselling and have lots of questions, or simply appreciate having a safe, open space to talk. You might have had therapy before and already know what does鈥攐r doesn鈥檛鈥攚ork for you. Perhaps you have specific goals in mind, or just a sense that something isn鈥檛 quite right, even if you鈥檙e not sure why. Wherever you're starting from, I鈥檓 here to meet you where you鈥檙e at. Together, we can shape the sessions in a way that feels right for you.
Whether this is your first experience of therapy or you've had support before, I understand that coming to a first session can feel daunting. My aim is that, by the end of our time together, you'll feel more at ease and have a sense of whether this feels like the right fit for you. If it doesn鈥檛, that鈥檚 absolutely okay too鈥攖here鈥檚 no pressure to continue. I always encourage you to take a little time after the session to reflect before deciding your next steps.
For Single Session Therapy (SST)
Due to the structured nature of SST, I鈥檒l send you a few forms to complete before the session, including a counselling agreement, personal details form, and a short questionnaire to help us focus our work together.
Free introductory phone call
You're very welcome to get in touch for a free 15-minute phone call if you鈥檇 like to ask any questions, see if I might be a good fit, or simply say hello before booking your first session.

I work online throughout the UK and Worldwide with prices starting for as little as 拢30 a session. You can find further information about fees at www.animatalk.co.uk/fees-and-services/
My passion is to make therapy easy to access and affordable.
I also offer an online stand alone Single Session Therapy (SST) at 拢80.

I'm experienced in helping people with a variety of issues including: overwhelm, depression, relationships, family, work, identity, trauma (past and present), addiction and grief.
Practice description
I specialise in helping you to find a way through life's difficulties by working collaboratively to provide a therapeutic style that works for you. This may mean giving you time and space to take things at your own pace, or a more directive approach using evidence-based therapeutic exercises and sharing tools and techniques to help you in your daily life. This approach to counselling is called Pluralistic - and the philosophy behind it is that different people will need different things at different times. So let's work together to find out what that is.
I see mental health in line with physical health so I also offer a more generalised wellbeing check-in service for those wanting to explore personal or professional development or work towards setting and achieving goals using a solutions focused approach.
The Single Session Therapy (SST) is a stand alone approach. It's where both of us agree to meet for an extended, more structured session, focusing on a single issue with the aim of either finding a solution or next steps. Next steps may include: personal actions, signposting to organisations for further support, or ongoing counselling sessions. Single Session Therapy can be one-off or repeated on a ad-hoc basis. An overview of the session including agreed solution or next steps can be produced in writing for an additional fee.
We are all fabulously different and I enjoy working with a diverse clientele hence my listings below. I have worked with people exploring gender, sexuality, race and neurodiversity and using my knowledge of the sector to signpost to specialist organisations if necessary.
My first session
Our first session is very much a time for you to share your reasons for seeking counselling and to feel what it's like to talk to me. I do a bit more talking than I would usually do in a session: gathering some personal details (which are confidential, as are our sessions), and going through the counselling contract. The rest of the session will be us talking and finding a way forward that suits you - such as the type of approach that might best help, as well as the frequency and number of sessions you have in mind.
Whether it's your first time, or you've previously had talking therapy, I understand that this first visit can sometimes feel a bit daunting - but hopefully by the end of the session you'll feel a little more at ease and hopeful that you've found the right support.
Single Session Therapy (SST) - due to the nature of this therapy specific SST forms will be sent to you to complete and return before your session. These include the counselling contract, personal details and a questionnaire to act as a starting point for the session.
Advance payment is required to secure your session.
