About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome. I'm Jane, a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist. Life can be challenging at times, and we do not always know which way to turn. Sometimes we need to talk to someone, in a confidential space, free from judgment and independent of those we are close too. We can then work out what it is we need and how we wish to move forward.

As counsellor, I work with adults (18+), who wish to come to talk about what is troubling them, make sense of their experiences and who wish to seek change in their lives.

My clients come from a wide range of backgrounds but are often seeking similar goals.

They may wish to:

• deal with the worries or anxieties that may be controlling or restricting their lives

• deal with the emotional pain of difficult experiences

• manage difficult emotions

• improve the relationship they have with themselves

• improve the relationships they have with others

• set healthy boundaries in relationships or workplaces, and/or disconnect from toxic ones

• move forward in life leaving behind their feelings of being overwhelmed or stuck with their circumstances or issues

• find meaning and purpose in their lives

• live life in a more joyful and fulfilling way.

Talking to a qualified professional about your problems can really help. Working together, we can help you to try and achieve your goals.

Practice description

I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist and hold a Master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a registered member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ and adhere to their Ethical Framework. I undertake regular training and development work as part of my continuing professional development as a therapist and I am a certified 'Trauma Informed' Practitioner.

I offer face to face, online or telephone therapy. For face to face sessions, my counselling room is situated in Altrincham, Cheshire.

I understand that it can be daunting to talk to someone about personal issues especially with someone you do not know. We will therefore always work at your pace and deal with the issues that you bring to sessions. I will always treat you with respect, honesty and understanding. We will regularly review how you are finding the counselling to ensure that our time together is working effectively for you.

My first session

I offer a 20-minute telephone consultation (without charge) where we can discuss why you are seeking therapy and what you would like to get out of it. You will be able to find out more about how I work and ask any questions about counselling that you may have.

It is important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor, so this first chat will allow you to get a sense of whether you feel you could work with me. I will also be able to assess if I have the right skills to work with you. There is absolutely no obligation for you commit to sessions after our initial telephone consultation.
