I see clients on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday weekly. My hours are 11am-9pm.
I am online through Zoom at the moment. However, I am looking to hire a room locally to Camberley when I can.
About me and my therapy practice
I first invite a client to the initial session to see how I can help and what they are hoping for by speaking with me. The initial session can also be an opportunity to determine if we are a good fit. Based on this first session, I can then continue the "assessment" period to dive deeper into the client's concerns, hopes or goals for change. The assessment period can last up to 6 sessions, depending on the presenting issues. At this point, we review the work and make any necessary adjustments before continuing. I then hold review sessions every 10 sessions to check in on the client's sense of progress.
I work pluralistically, drawing on Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy to best suit the client's preferences.
My primary psychotherapeutic training is Existential-Phenomenological Psychotherapy, which I received at the New School of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Existential-phenomenology as an approach to psychotherapy focuses on the meaning of experiences and incorporates philosophical concepts from Martin Heidegger's Being-in-the-world, for example.
My specialism is Romantic Obsession, and my doctoral thesis is an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis of Romantic Obsession. I specifically explore the woman's experience.
Practice description
I am a kind and understanding person. I'm highly empathetic. I am gentle in my approach to first build trust between the client and me. Once the trust is established and the client feels secure, I may then invite some challenges into the dynamic, questioning with curiosity and never judgment, whether they believe their current choices are the best for them or if there are other possibilities out there that they may not have considered yet. It's about opening one's mind to possibilities and even dreaming of a life worth living.
My first session
In the first session, this is an opportunity for us to figure out if we can work together moving forward. I will typically ask many more questions than I would in the first session to try to cover the different areas of your life: your current situation, relational and familial history, and hopes for the future.
This session will be standard in length, at 50 minutes.
