About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Emma. I offer psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling in Leeds and countrywide. I'm MÍø±¬ÃÅ certified with extensive experience of working with children, young people, adults, and families.
My first degree is in Social Anthropology, I like to engage with new people, learning and understanding their experience and perception of the world. I have worked in and across a number of social and cultural settings and have a broad range of experience. Over time I have gathered a range of skills and training. I am interested in the diverse and creative ways in which people express themselves beyond words.
My aim is to meet your needs and to engage with you in a way that is helpful, authentic and collaborative.
Practice description
I am Integrative/Humanistic therapist. The most important and healing element of therapy is the establishment of an open and honest relationship between us. I also combine different schools of psychological theory/research, in an integrative and collaborative approach. I aim to provide space for examination, experiment and thought, allowing you to notice and accept who you are; integrating parts of who you are and finding wholeness in yourself.
An Integrative approach has an emphasis on an open and authentic interaction without ready formed opinions, expectations or attitude. This enables a better focus on the issues that may impact or limit us, allowing the self to recognise and understand the causes of disruptive patterns of behaviour.
My emphasis is on authenticity and acceptance. Creating a safe space to explore and discover healing and understanding. I work with a focus on being and functioning (mind, movement and nutrients) to maximise your potential and your self actualisation. Together we can take the time to make sense of the past, to live in the present and look forward to a future where you grow and flourish in all aspects of your life.
My first session
It is important to feel comfortable with your therapist. When choosing who to work with its a good idea to have a chat and ask questions to see if he or she is a good fit. I am happy to have a chat and answer any questions you have.
