About me and my therapy practice
As qualified integrative Clarkson Therapists with extensive experience, I firmly believe in simplifying the therapeutic process. Life presents its own complexities, and therapy should offer clarity and support.
My "toolkit" includes practices such the relational aspects of Clarkson therapy as well as inner child work, Gestalt's Empty Chair, or walking therapy. I always adapting to what feels right for you. I am passionate about creating a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space, which I believe is essential for therapeutic growth. In our sessions, we work together, empowering you to connect with your inner self and navigate life's complexities with greater confidence.
My primary role within our sessions is to cultivate a secure and non-judgemental environment where you feel empowered to explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns. While my approach is predominantly client-led, respecting your autonomy and inner wisdom, I am also prepared to offer thoughtful challenges when appropriate and when a strong therapeutic alliance supports such exploration. We work collaboratively to foster meaningful insight and lasting positive change.
Practice description
The Pickle Jar is my private therapy practice located in Canterbury, Kent, offering a supportive and understanding space for both teenagers (ages 13-19) and adults. We recognise that life's journey can sometimes feel like a "jar of pickles" – messy, challenging, and unpredictable.
My core mission is to provide a warm, welcoming, and consistently judgement-free environment where you feel truly seen and valued. Here, you can safely explore your challenges, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and work towards your mental health goals. I firmly believe that with compassionate care and the right support, individuals can navigate these difficulties and discover their own sense of self.
I are dedicated to supporting individuals on their unique path towards emotional well-being. We offer individual therapy services tailored to address a variety of areas. For adults, this can include anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship issues, trauma, grief, and navigating life transitions. For teenagers, we provide support for challenges such as anxiety, depression, social and emotional development, peer pressure, academic stress, family conflicts, and identity exploration.
My first session
I understand that taking the first step to seek help is a brave one.
Your first therapy session is an important step as we begin our work together. An initial assessment will typically have been completed before this first full session, providing us with a valuable starting point.
In this first session, our main focus will be on:
Reviewing our Therapy Contract: We'll go over our therapy agreement, including confidentiality, cancellation policies, session timings, and the fee structure for our sessions.
Discussing Your Assessment & Goals: We will dedicate time to discuss the insights from your assessment. This allows us to ensure we have a shared understanding of what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. It’s an opportunity for you to ask any questions and for us to begin collaboratively establishing a foundation to build upon.
Building Our Therapeutic Relationship & Creating a Safe Space: Perhaps the most crucial part of this first session is to start building a warm, trusting, and supportive therapeutic relationship. We will begin the important process of creating a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental environment where you feel truly heard, respected, and comfortable expressing yourself openly.
The primary aim of this initial session is to ensure you feel at ease, understood, and hopeful about the journey ahead. It’s about establishing a strong, collaborative foundation for our therapeutic work together, empowering you from the very start.
