About me and my therapy practice
Feel like you’re hiding away?
There are many reasons that can make us want to hide. Perhaps you're so used to putting on a brave face that showing any vulnerability feels a bit too exposing. So, you choose to "hide" instead – may you spend more time at home alone when things get tough, or crack jokes in social situations, while feeling sad and lonely underneath. It’s like you’ve got this mask on, but deep down, you’re yearning for a genuine connection.
Concealing the Real You Due to Fear of Exposure
Or perhaps you're in the hiding game because showing the real you feels risky. The fear of rejection keeps you living a life that feels unhappy and distant from those around you. Living with the constant dread of being "found out" can be both tough and exhausting.
Dealing with an Unrelenting Inner Critic?
Often, those who feel the need to "hide" have a pesky inner critic. This inner voice loves to taunt you, especially when you're feeling vulnerable.
How Therapy Can Help
Good news, though! Therapy can help to tame that inner critic so that you no longer feel hijacked and can be your true self. Therapy can also help you to identify and challenge patterns that reinforce the urge to hide.
Practice description
Accessible Online Sessions
Therapy is offered via the secure video platform 'Zoom,' allowing you to attend sessions from the comfort of your home and fit them into your busy schedule.
Therapeutic Approach
Our sessions might involve talking therapy, creative approaches (e.g. guided visualisations, sand tray) and/or EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)—a powerful, evidence-based method that helps the brain and body reprocess trauma so it feels less intense, less overwhelming.
I usually work with clients weekly, at the same time each week. That consistency helps build trust, offers a steady rhythm to the work, and gives you the support you need as the work intensifies.
