About me and my therapy practice
Hi and welcome. I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ accredited counsellor/ psychotherapist. Getting results can be quicker than you think. If your normal ways of coping are not working, or if something has thrown you sideways. Isolation and rumination are not your friends!
I know people avoid therapy, fearing judgment or the prospect of being overwhelmed. Sometimes they don't know where to start! I will gently help you to 'put the brakes on' your emotional overload.
I am an experienced trauma informed, Person Centred/Integrative therapist. I work with a whole variety of people with diverse difficulties.
Would you like to feel less self-doubt and less burdened? You don't have to do this entirely alone. In fact, is it actually even sustainable to?
Thankfully, there are other ways and therapy is a positive step.
I know the last thing you need is more pressure! I appreciate telling someone else what is going on is difficult. I will always move at your pace.
My clients often say that they "feel lighter" after the first session. Sessions often bring 'light bulb' moments, helping people to understand their struggles and so we make positive progress.
In sessions we would form a proactive therapy plan just for you.
I counsel people 18 and over, experiencing many things - bereavement/grief/loss, relationship difficulties, IVF, complex trauma, rape, domestic/other abuse, PTSD & resulting symptoms, depression, anxiety/stress, guilt/shame and those managing life limiting/changing conditions (patients, family members & carers). Redundancy, grief/loss & life limiting conditions. Personal growth & confidence building. (I do not offer pre-trial therapy).
ADHD/Neurodiversity welcomed in this therapy space.
I am registered with the Foundation for Infant Loss.
I have solid counselling experience in private practice and I have provided counselling within The Heart of Kent Hospice for three years and for six years with a valued Kent based charity, offering complex trauma counselling for survivors of crime.
Practice description
In this space you can learn to be brave enough to say how you really feel. Isn't it often the case that we spend more time putting of what might help us? Later wishing we had done it sooner!
Feeling comfortable with your counsellor is key. I will take time to listen empathically and carefully to you, to gain a real sense of your experiences, concerns and goals. This helps me to tailor the sessions to your needs and pace.
In sessions, I expand on the pure Person-Centred approach, to touch on elements such as Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Existentialism and Creative therapy, because sometimes it is difficult to put words to difficult thoughts and feelings. So I talk with you, rather than always expecting you to take the lead.
Therapy sessions can last up to 60 minutes. I offer in person therapy, to people 18 years old and over in a calm spacious room,(*or if appropriate via telephone or Zoom), with easy motorway access and transport links to surrounding areas.
We would have regular reviews, to promote good outcomes, share awareness to strengthen your therapy sessions.
There is a chance to increase self-worth and to gain useful tools, to sustain you as you work through to your goals, and beyond our time together.
I have a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Person Centred Humanistic).
An Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MÍø±¬ÃÅ -Accredited)
Registered with The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Hold Enhanced (DBS) Disclosure & Barring Service certified.
Gained Cruse Bereavement - Ascentis certificate in 2019.
ASIST Trained - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trained.
I am also a registered counsellor with The Foundation for Infant Loss and have completed additional Rainbow baby training.
I am a Bupa registered practitioner.
My first session
Having a good connection with your therapist, is key to good outcomes.
