About me and my therapy practice

Do you suffer from overwhelming feelings? I am an integrative counsellor working with trauma - whether from conflict, abuse or other difficult life events. I am a compassionate counsellor and my approach is warm, empathic and accepting. I aim to establish a trusting relationship with you so that you feel safe to explore the issues you bring.

I have experience working with clients who have complex PTSD, anxiety, depression and OCD as well as those with life problems due to bereavement, divorce, job stress, parenting, difficult relationships and low self-esteem.

I work with clients from different cultures and I also work as a counsellor at a refugee charity. I grew up in the Netherlands, Sweden and the US and then spent seven years in Africa before settling in Oxford in 2001. Prior to working as a counsellor, I worked for charities, teaching and supporting asylum seekers and refugees.

Practice description

I offer shorter or longer term help. I work online, generally on zoom. Sessions are 50 minutes and usually weekly or else fortnightly.

I can help with talking things through, I can teach grounding techniques and I can offer trauma therapy.

I have training in Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Babette Rothschilds' Somatic Trauma Therapy.

About me and my therapy practice

Port Meadow Walking Therapy is an Oxford-based therapy involving walking and talking. I am an experienced integrative therapist working with trauma - whether from conflict, abuse or other difficult life events. I am compassionate and my approach is warm, empathic and accepting. I work to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you feel able to open up and explore your life.

I have experience working with people who have complex PTSD, anxiety, depression and OCD as well as those with life problems due to bereavement, illness, job stress, parenting, difficult relationships and low self-esteem.

I work with people from different cultures and I also work as a counsellor in a refugee charity. I grew up in the Netherlands, Sweden and the US and then spent seven years in Africa before settling in Oxford in 2001. Prior to working as a counsellor I worked for charities supporting asylum seekers and refugees.

Practice description

Port Meadow Walking Therapy is a walk and talk therapy that takes place on Port Meadow in Oxford. This type of therapy, also called ecotherapy or nature therapy, is a way of having counselling whilst walking together. Walking side by side can help us to express ourselves more easily and enhance the experience of therapy. It can also improve our connection with nature.

Walk and talk sessions are 50 minutes and can be weekly or fortnightly, short term or longer term. They depart from the Wolvercote side of Port Meadow and the walk can be by the river or more inland. Wolvercote is easily accessible by bus from Oxford and there is parking available. In case of bad weather or other unforeseeable circumstances, a Microsoft Teams invite is sent so the session can easily be converted into an online session.
