About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes, our coping strategies, and the ways we relate to others, may become problematic. For instance, you may feel overwhelmed by grief, illness or painful events. Relationships may have broken down. You may feel anxious or depressed.
As a qualified and registered Psychodynamic Psychotherapist I have experience of supporting people with many different issues. These include; anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, family conflict, problems at work. Feeling as though you are not heard. Life transitions and perhaps feeling lost or unable to move forward. I have a special interest in supporting people with bereavement and loss.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers the opportunity to begin to make sense of what underlies your difficulties, come to terms with your losses and discover new perspectives. I strongly believe that an individual needs to arrive at their own understanding of their situation and of what troubles them. This deeper understanding helps you to find a way forward, and to start to feel better.
I provide a safe space for you to express your thoughts and explore feelings openly. Change takes place as together we experience the repeating patterns in relationships and reflect on the underlying dynamics which are present. I help you make links between what you are doing in the here and now and the way you experience your life and the people within it.
Having the opportunity to say out loud how we feel and to be heard by another can bring some much needed relief and insight.
Practice description
My overall aim is to provide you with a warm, supportive, collaborative, non-judgmental, conversational-style environment where you can connect with your deeper feelings, making sense of them and work through them whilst not being alone.
Given the right opportunity, each of us can reach our full potential and be our true selves. This innate process is continually going on inside us and can be hindered by current and past experiences.
Therapy provides empathy, acceptance and valuing to the client and their individual experiences. It provides you with a space to be you, speak your truth, without fear of being judged and while being free of other people's view of how you should be or have been so far.
My first session
Finding the right therapist for you is really important. Please contact me by phone or email to arrange a free 15-minute consultation. You can use the time to tell me what you are looking for and I will explain how I work and how we can work together. Once we are both happy with the way forward, we can book in your first session and start the therapy.
