About me and my therapy practice
I hold a specialism in working with vulnerable Children and Young People (7 -26 years) both as a Therapist and Clinical Supervisor.
I really understand that some young clients come to therapy with unprocessed emotional experiences that may be impacting their capacity to thrive . Alongside this, changes in their lives or unpredictable behaviour can be confusing, challenging or ' out of sync' with other siblings, family members or their previous experience of school or university.
I am often curious about what is important to the children and young people I meet with. This may include; explorations of challenges, fears or hopes that seem out of reach. We may explore this via the use of; talk therapy, creativity (drawing and image making) music, movement, and pyschoeducation about our brains and stress responses during periods of difficulty . Any offering is always an invite, and never a must or should.
Working with a youth focused age group means my approach is a specialism which is; centrally Attachment Focused, trauma informed ( specific trauma treatment) developmentally guided, relational and creatively based. I hold solid therapeutic experience of meeting clients where they are today and specifically so.
Sessions with me ultimately seek to support vulnerable clients to; rediscover a sense of calm, self belief, hope and reconnection to themselves ( and others) from the inside out.
I am regularly humbled and energized by the generosity of spirit and creativity of the children and young adults I work with - many of whom can and do rediscover the sense of themselves they like best.
For families with teenage children: I really invite parents and carers to consider asking young people to be a part of the process of finding a therapist, offering them the chance to read my profile and see what resonates for them.
