Availability

Regular weekly 50 minute therapy sessions are held on a Monday and Wednesday although initial consultation sessions may be scheduled on any day of the week.

Sessions with me are 'open ended' meaning that rather than working to a fixed number of sessions, the therapeutic relationship ends when clients are ready to work towards a close.

The practice closes each year for 2 weeks in April, 6 weeks over the summer and 3 weeks in December / January.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist with a background in both behavioral therapy and neuropsychoanalysis. My initial training in occupational and business psychology informs the way I work, providing me with a deep understanding of human behavior and the dynamics at play in various contexts. This diverse training allows me to offer a broad perspective and tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each client.

I work relationally, which means I focus on the therapeutic relationship as a key part of the healing process. I believe that creating a non-judgmental, compassionate space where you feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings is essential for growth. In our work together, I draw on my theoretical knowledge and clinical experience, while also recognizing that each client brings their own unique story, strengths, and challenges to a session.

I offer both in-person and online therapy sessions, allowing flexibility to accommodate different preferences and lifestyles. My aim is to support you in gaining deeper insight into your emotional world and developing tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater self-awareness and resilience.

Practice description

In my practice, I work psychodynamically, which means I help you explore how past experiences may shape your current thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. We may look at how certain habits or patterns have developed over time, and how these might be influencing the way you interact with others or navigate challenges in your life. If relevant, this might also involve exploring childhood experiences or examining the impact of transgenerational events.

With my broad experience in psychology and psychotherapy, I integrate techniques from various therapeutic modalities, while staying grounded in psychoanalytic tradition. This allows me to tailor the approach to best suit your unique needs, helping you gain deeper insight and understanding.

My first session

The first session with me is a consultation session which is offered at a reduced rate which I hope offers sampling without commitment.  It could be considered as an assessment session, where the client can assess what working with me might feel like and can make a judgement on whether it feels right for them.  In the meantime I gain an understanding of whether psychodynamic counselling might suit their needs.

I collect a life history during this first session which forms a good foundation for assessment and work ahead should we agree that a relationship between therapist and client could be helpful.
