About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Annie. I'm a Íø±¬ÃÅ accredited therapist, and alongside my private practice I'm also a secondary school counsellor with over a decade of experience working in schools. I currently work in private practice with adults and young people aged 11+.

Throughout my career, I’ve supported people with a wide range of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, stress, academic pressure, low self-esteem, bereavement, and difficulties in the family and with relationships. I have a particular passion for supporting teenagers and young adults – this is such a rich and often messy time of life, when there can be so much to think about with school and university, relationships, identity and future plans, and when having a space to explore all of this with another person can be really helpful.

Before becoming a therapist I was a Deputy SENDCo in a secondary school, working with neurodivergent young people including those with ADHD and autism, and I've continued to build on this experience in my therapeutic work.

My approach is integrative, which means I use a range of therapeutic models, and I tailor the work to suit each individual. Sessions with me may be open-ended, focusing on what the client wants to bring each week, or we might work in a more solution-focused and structured way, targeting a particular issue.

Alongside my therapeutic work I'm also a published writer, and I’ve seen how creativity can be a powerful tool in therapy, helping people find their voice through metaphor, visual tools, storytelling or narrative approaches.

Practice description

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, so I offer a free initial Zoom call to help us get to know each other and let you get a sense of how I work, whether you're reaching out for yourself or a parent seeking support for your child. If you’re happy to proceed we can then book an initial session.

I offer both short- and long-term support, and I'll always be guided by you on what you need. In our first sessions we'll explore what you're going through and what feels most important to you. Our work may be open-ended, identifying patterns and themes in your life that might be impacting you, or we might work in a more solution-focused way, targeting a particular issue.

My integrative approach allows me to adapt my work to what you need. The most important part of our work together is not so much the type of therapy we do, but more about our therapeutic relationship and how you feel in our sessions - my main aim is to build a space for you where we can think about problems together, and where you can share, explore, and feel supported, challenged and empowered to make lasting changes in your life.

Feel free to get in touch - I'm here to help.
