About me and my therapy practice
I have many years' experience working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, and relationship breakdown, infidelity and divorce. I have a particular interest and specialist training in working with clients who are experiencing difficulties in their sex lives, or who are exploring questions around sex, sexual expression, sexuality and identity.
If you feel I may be able to help, I would be glad to arrange a first session to see if I am the right therapist for you. I currently have 2 new reduced fee spaces for clients on low incomes - please contact me for further information.
Training and Experience
I'm a highly qualified counsellor with many years' experience helping clients with a wide range of emotional and psychological issues.
My Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling (with Distinction) is from the University of Edinburgh, where I trained in both the person-centred and psychodynamic approaches to therapy. I am particularly interested in childhood and early life experiences, and how the past impacts us today.
I hold a post-qualifying Certificate in Psychosexual Studies from Tavistock Relationships, as well as training from the Centre for Psychosexual Health in London in working with sex after sexual trauma.
Trauma, anxiety and other experiences can have an impact on our bodies, and sometimes emotional and psychological issues can show up in physical symptoms and experiences. I am interested in working in this area, and have additional training in this area, including a Certificate in Somatic TA.
I have been seeing clients in my private counselling practice for over 6 years. Prior to this, I worked as a counsellor in various Edinburgh-based charities, as well as the University of Edinburgh Student Counselling Service and the Edinburgh Crisis Centre.
