About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m tracie — a down-to-earth counsellor, army veteran and neurodivergent human. I am a creative and integrative therapist who works primarily outdoors in nature. As an ex-military professional myself, I understand the unique challenges faced by those with military backgrounds, trauma, and neurodivergence. My approach is practical, compassionate, and tailored to meet you where you are. For me, counselling is about one real human being meeting another. I don’t see you as a problem to be fixed — I see you as a whole person who deserves to be heard, understood, and supported as you find your own way forward.

For some people, sitting face-to-face can feel intense or uncomfortable. Walk-and-talk therapy is an alternative I offer in the parks around Darlington and Richmond. Walking side by side in nature often makes it easier to open up, while the rhythm of movement and the calming presence of the outdoors can help ease anxiety and bring clarity. Many clients find that being outside allows conversations to flow more naturally, while also offering the grounding and restorative benefits of nature itself. I believe healing happens best when we reconnect with our natural surroundings and our authentic selves. Together, we’ll explore your story through a blend of talk therapy, somatic work, and creative techniques — all designed to help you feel grounded, seen, and supported.

Practice description

I work with individuals and couples facing a wide range of challenges, including trauma, PTSD, addiction, ADHD, anxiety, and relationship struggles. My background in the British Army, along with my lived experience of military family life and neurodivergence, means I truly understand the unique pressures that come with high-stress environments, identity shifts, and invisible wounds.

Whether you're living with the impact of past trauma, struggling with addiction, newly diagnosed, or trying to keep a relationship afloat under pressure, I offer a down-to-earth, honest approach — with space for humour when it helps, and deep compassion when it’s needed most. My approach is practical, compassionate, and tailored to meet you where you are. I bring my own life experience to the work, too. I’m a veteran with 14 years of military service, and I understand some of the unique challenges that veterans and their families can face. I’m also neurodivergent, and I know first-hand what it’s like to navigate ADHD — whether you’ve recently been diagnosed or are still figuring out how your brain works, I’ll meet you with empathy and understanding.

If you want a therapist who’s real, understands where you’re coming from, please get in touch for a free initial chat.
