About me and my therapy practice
About Me
I’m Tom, and I currently provide 1:1 therapy for individuals and couples. I have over 10 years of experience working across a range of therapeutic settings. My recent clinical work includes roles at The Priory Hospital in North London and The Florence Nightingale Hospital in Marylebone.
Areas of Specialisation
My three main areas of specialisation are:
- Addiction & Substance Use
- Emotional Dysregulation
- Couples Therapy
Addiction & Substance Use
My background is rooted in working with addiction, and I have extensive experience helping people reduce and abstain from substance use as part of their recovery. I take a practical, behavioural, and evidence-based approach to addressing these often challenging problems.
I’m currently recruiting for a Substance Use Therapy Program and offer affordable rates for this client group. Please contact me for further details.
Emotional Dysregulation
Emotional dysregulation refers to intense or disproportionate emotional experiences that often lead to harmful behaviours or relationship difficulties.
I specialise in working with:
- Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD / EUPD)
- Anxiety & Depression
- Anger & Emotional Distress
I have trained extensively in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)—an evidence-based treatment specifically developed to help with these issues.
Couples Therapy
I also specialise in working with couples. I offer an honest, open, yet robust approach to helping couples:
- Improve communication
- Solve problems collaboratively
- Deepen intimacy and closeness
This may include addressing sexual difficulties, for which I have received specialised training.

I aim to offer a therapy experience that is effective, validating and empathic, yet honest & direct when appropriate.
Therapy Room
Sessions take place in my purpose-built therapy room in Redbourn, just outside St Albans. It’s a quiet, comfortable, and private environment with easy access and plentiful parking.
Qualifications
