About me and my therapy practice
Are you navigating the challenges of trauma, emotional neglect or the impact of difficult childhood experiences?
I鈥檓 an experienced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, dedicated to supporting adults and families affected by trauma and early adversity. As an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, I provide professional, compassionate care.
I believe that counselling offers the opportunity to understand yourself deeply and make meaningful changes, leading to greater peace and connection in your life.
Specialist areas:
My work falls into two key areas:
Adults who have experienced trauma, adversity or emotional neglect.
Trauma may be recent or rooted in early childhood adversity. Many people seek therapy when life feels difficult or 鈥渘ot quite right鈥 in the present, but it鈥檚 often important to look to the past and explore the experiences and relationships that have shaped us. Together, we might work through themes of loss, relationship disruptions, identity development and fragmentation. I also work with adult adoptees who want to make sense of their life narrative and experiences.
Parents of children with complex needs.
I support adults who parent children with complex needs, including families with children who are adopted, under special guardianship or kinship care, or who have neurodevelopmental diagnoses (such as ASC, ADHD or FASD). Our work may focus on building understanding, developing strategies for managing challenging behaviours, and strengthening the parent-child relationship. Ultimately, my goal is to help parents feel more confident and empowered, fostering enduring change within the family.
The qualities of compassion, empathy, curiosity, and acceptance underpin all of my work.
Key to every interaction are strong ethics, a collaborative therapeutic relationship and genuine presence and congruence with my clients.
Practice description
How I work
I鈥檝e spent many years training across multiple disciplines because I believe drawing from diverse models allows me to respond to client needs on multiple levels.
What this means in practice is that therapy is tailored to you. For example, an adult adoptee might explore loss, loyalty, grief and key relationships, while a family might benefit from Non-Violent Resistance to shift family dynamics. Drawing from multiple frameworks allows me to offer a service uniquely suited to your circumstances.

Alongside my professional qualifications, my personal experience as an adoptive parent and special-guardian grandparent gives me additional insight into the unique journeys faced by adoptive and kinship families. This perspective helps me offer compassionate, practical support tailored to your unique circumstances.
My first session
Sessions are usually scheduled weekly but can be more frequent during times of crisis. As therapy progresses, we may move to fortnightly or monthly sessions. The number of sessions varies for each person. We鈥檒l review our work regularly to ensure it continues to meet your needs.
Most of my work is conducted online via video conference. Online sessions are secure and confidential, offering flexibility and comfort wherever you are. There are also opportunities to meet face-to-face, especially for those who live in the north-west or south-west of England.
