About me and my therapy practice

I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ accredited integrative therapist (MÍø±¬ÃÅ Accred) and have been practising since 2016 in both the charity and private sectors.

Before becoming a therapist I pursued a career in publishing where I was involved in writing and producing a number of books on wellbeing and mental health, including a series of bestselling books with the mental health charity Mind.

How I can help

There are many reasons why you might be looking into therapy.

You might be here because you’re struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, stress or low self-esteem, or perhaps you have been through a relationship breakdown or bereavement.

It might be due to something that has happened recently or events that are more connected with your past.

Life may feel difficult or even overwhelming.

Perhaps you feel lost or like you’re somehow behind, uncertain of what direction to take or how to build a greater sense of meaning and purpose in your life.

There might be a difficult relationship, such as with a partner, parent, colleague or friend, that you’re struggling to navigate. Or you’d like to understand more about how you experience relationships or attachment in general.

Or perhaps you want to develop a different relationship with yourself, challenge a harsh inner voice, build greater self awareness or live more authentically.

You might simply want a place to be heard, free of judgement and at your pace.

Our reasons for coming to therapy are as individual as we are.

What’s essential is to find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and who will work alongside you on what’s important to you.

Practice description

With so many options and so much therapy jargon out there, it can be confusing and frustrating to navigate your way to someone you feel confident in. So, put simply, I offer a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space for you to talk through what’s going on for you. We’ll then work together to deepen your understanding of the challenges that you’re facing and what you’d like to be different before looking at how you might choose to use that insight to drive change.

While the path therapy takes is unique to each person, and is lead by you, common routes involve exploring how we experience our lives, ourselves, our relationship to others and our place in the world. This often includes looking at the influence of our past, while offering an opportunity to experience ourselves and others in a new, more authentic way. This might lead to challenging unhelpful patterns or cycles and supporting you to make different choices in the future.

A bit more about how I work

I practise an integrative model of counselling, which means that I use a combination of approaches from different schools of psychotherapy. These include concepts from person centred, psychodynamic and existential therapy models. The theories and techniques that I bring into the room are guided by what you want to gain from therapy.

Online therapy

My practice is exclusively online, which means that therapy sessions are conducted over video calls via Zoom. Therapy sessions are held in precisely the same way as traditional in-person therapy but with the added flexibility that they can take place wherever you are. Online therapy can be particularly helpful if you have a busy schedule, travel a lot, or could benefit from the reduction in journey time. It is also useful for those who would prefer to be in their own space during therapy.

Fees

£70 per 50-minute session, including the initial consultation session.

I also offer some reduced-fee slots. Please get in touch for more details.

My first session

Drop me an email or give me a ring and we can arrange a time for an initial 50-minute consultation session.

I also offer a free 15-minute phone call in case you’d like to discuss specific questions before booking a consultation session.

The initial consultation gives us a chance to meet one another and explore how we might work together. It’s where you can talk about what has led you to seek therapy and what you are hoping for. I will be checking to make sure that my style of practice is a good fit for what you want from therapy. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions that you might have – although do feel free to email me with queries before we meet as well.

At the end of that meeting we might decide to go ahead and arrange regular sessions, or you’re also very welcome to go away and think about it before committing. We can agree to a fixed number of sessions or take an open ended approach. If we take an open-ended approach I tend to suggest that we arrange regular reviews (typically after six sessions) so we can check-in with how you’re experiencing therapy, decide whether to continue or not, and agree to any changes that might be helpful.

All regular sessions are 50 minutes long and generally take place on a weekly basis at a regular time. Depending on the situation, I do sometimes work with clients on a less frequent basis, such as having sessions every other week, and if that’s something you’d be interested in we can discuss it during the consultation.
