About me and my therapy practice

I鈥檓 a highly experienced and award-winning therapist having delivered over 5000 hours of counselling, psychotherapy and mindfulness across the UK. I help people move through trauma, stress, and much more with compassion and professionalism. Get in touch for free 20-minute telephone consultation.

If you鈥檙e new to therapy scrolling through profiles can feel a little overwhelming as it鈥檚 hard to get a real sense of someone. Below, I鈥檝e laid out what I feel makes me unique.

Practice description

Experience That Makes the Difference

I鈥檝e worked in the profession and delivered over 5000 hours of different types of therapy for almost a decade, in various settings such as the NHS, where I won a regional award. In the charity sector, where I helped pioneer a fathers-only support group for Dad鈥檚 who lost children. And privately, where I鈥檝e helped lots of people all over the UK and even Europe. I鈥檓 also involved in innovative therapy research which helps keep me sharp, humble and up to date.

More than a Therapist

Whilst I am a therapist, I have lived a full and rich life. I鈥檝e been an elite athlete who travelled the world for team GB until a tragic accident brought that chapter to a close. Alongside childhood trauma this led me through PTSD, panic and self-doubt. But it also sparked a lifelong journey into understanding how people heal and thrive after hardship. I鈥檓 now a successful therapist, researcher, and father, dedicated to helping others.

My Impact on Others

My clients tell me that I often demonstrate a confidence to be authentic and vulnerable in ways that humanises me and validates the parts of themselves which feel wounded or insecure.

Here鈥檚 what they鈥檝e said about me:

鈥淵our patience and understanding made all the difference, and I am incredibly grateful to have found such a supportive therapist in you鈥

鈥 Steven, 2025.

鈥淲orking with you, has to be one of the best decisions of my life鈥

- Lucy, 2025.

"I have worked with James for almost a year and he has been a key part of my progress in overcoming past trauma... I have seen a huge improvement in my overall well-being."

鈥 Kiara, 2024.

"James has been an invaluable asset to me as a barrister navigating emotionally charged cases... His insight and guidance have helped me untangle my thoughts, making the challenges of life and work more manageable"

鈥 Michael, 2024.
