About me and my therapy practice

If you are struggling with a sense of overwhelm, if you experience a recurring sense of emptiness, if you are wondering why you feel stuck in repeated patterns, or just not understood, psychotherapy helps you think about why something is 'not quite right' and then consider change.

I am an adult psychotherapist with over ten years of experience working with individuals, couples and families. I specialise in working through communication and conflict with a view to building understanding and connection.

My work with you

A relationship is created with each person bringing their unique  ways of seeing the world. When individual backgrounds differ 鈥 whether through religion, family traditions, or the expectations you grew up with 鈥 they can add pressure to a relationship. You might find yourselves clashing over what鈥檚 鈥渘ormal鈥 in a partnership, how emotions are expressed, or what roles each of you should play. Even small misunderstandings can feel bigger when they affect your identity.

Your sessions are held in a compassionate and respectful space where we build on your ability to listen deeply and communicate honestly. As a relationship therapist, I help you understand how to hold multiple perspectives in mind. This may be within yourself or with your partners or family members. Ultimately, therapy enables you to make choices with clarity and acceptance.

I support people navigating questions around identity, dating, managing boundaries, infidelity, trust, arguments, intimacy, and change in life stage. Sessions will help you make sense of these changes, work through your thoughts and feelings, so you can confidently take your next steps.

Practice description

My Approach

My primary clinical approach is psychodynamic, where we think about what lies beneath our awareness of thoughts, feelings and behaviours, how they shape who we are. I am also CBT and systemically trained; my therapeutic approach is tailored to your needs. Our work may be time limited (20 sessions), or long term.

I am particularly passionate about working with difference and diversity. Being culturally congruent and respectful is a significant part of my practice. For this reason, I am keen to support intercultural relationships. In my practice I have supported people from a range of ethnicities, sexualities and faiths. I warmly welcome LGBTQIA individuals; this is a space where your experience is respected and affirmed. I also welcome individuals and relationships where neurodiversity is present.

I have an interest in exploring how mental health affects individuals, couples and families. I am trained to support relationships where anxiety and/or depression is present. As clinician, I work with NHS patients on couple therapy for depression; I also teach and supervise in this area.

I have also completed specialist training in working with couples who are separated and/or considering separation/divorce. I am particularly interested in supporting co-parents who are considering this difficult step. Our work together will help you manage the process compassionately and respectfully, while holding children in mind.

My specialisms

Couples and Significant Relationships

A relationship is created with each person bringing their unique values, beliefs, and ways of seeing the world. In therapy with me, there鈥檚 space to explore how your personal and social histories shape the way you relate to each other. I work relationally, meaning I pay attention to what happens between you in the moment as well as what you each bring from your past. Together, we can begin to understand where tensions come from, find ways to communicate more openly, and discover new ways to feel connected 鈥 without losing the parts of yourselves that matter most.

Identity, Belonging and Cultural Differences

You might have grown up between two or more cultures 鈥 perhaps feeling that you don鈥檛 fully fit into any of them. For some people, this can create a quiet sense of tension: wanting to honour family values while also wanting more freedom or feeling misunderstood by others who don鈥檛 share your background or experience.

I offer a space where you can explore these layers of identity and how they鈥檝e shaped the way you see yourself and relate to others. By understanding how cultural expectations, family influences, and personal experiences interact, you can begin to find a stronger sense of self 鈥 one that feels more integrated and congruent to who you are today.

Rebuilding Trust

The breakdown of trust can be painful e for anyone who has experienced a betrayal. While infidelity is one instance of betrayal, there are other events 鈥 such as addictions, substance abuse, fear of commitment 鈥 that also affect trust in a relationship.

Learning to trust again can feel like a daunting experience. Sessions with me will help you think about the root causes which lead to trust being breached. You can talk honestly about your experience, listen empathically and build a mutually respectful relationship.

I have worked as a clinical supervisor for over six years, at the NHS, charities and private practice. I supervise individuals and groups. My supervision covers contracted, short-term and long-term, open ended therapy.

I see supervision as a collaborative exercise where the supervisor holds the therapist's experience, where the therapist is able to engage safely and freely with clinical material. At the same time, I understand that each therapist asks for a specific experience in supervision; the supervisory relationship, like the clinical relationship, is build over time.

Ultimately, my hope is to support the therapist in holding an ethical, reflexive and compassionately engaged therapeutic practice, that is consistently learning, growing and developing.

My approach draws from Hawkins and Sohet's seven eyed model of relational matrices, where we collaboratively consider the various relationships playing out in the client-therapist-supervisory modes. My hope is to create a space that is reflective, trusting and restorative, while simultaneously remaining responsible to clinical and therapeutic needs.

About me and my therapy practice

My practice largely draws from the psychodynamic modality. I was also trained as a systemic practitioner, therefore my practice draws from both frameworks.

My practice also draws from cognitive behavioural approaches and mentalising frameworks. These modalities form the basis of my clinical and supervisory approaches.
