About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome! Feeling a bit overwhelmed and unsure where to start? Hopefully the following info will help you to decide if I might be the right therapist to help you...
Do you have a strong inner-critic, and high expectations for yourself? Are you a perfectionist, or people-pleaser, who is always striving to achieve and control things, whilst struggling to switch off and rest? Is your sense of worth and confidence rooted in your performance, and approval from others? Do you feel different- perhaps disconnected- from people around you?
Would you like to understand yourself better, and be kinder to yourself? Do you want to accept yourself as you are and grow in confidence? Would you like to be more present and connected with yourself and others?
If so, I work with clients like you! I believe that by addressing unresolved trauma, self-limiting beliefs, and overwhelming emotions, you can begin to see yourself, others and the world differently. In time, this impacts decisions you make in your life, so that you feel more empowered and confident. You begin to thrive- not just survive.
All this happens with a strong therapeutic alliance, which doesn't necessarily happen overnight. Trust is built with time, and by me creating the right conditions where you can feel heard, understood, safe, respected; treated with compassion and openness, without judgement.
In counselling, you can talk about whatever you feel is important and at your own pace. You will not be made to talk about anything you do not wish to discuss. Regular reviews allow us to reflect on the counselling process and how helpful you are finding it.
I understand that the prospect of starting therapy can feel incredibly daunting, especially if you have never tried it before. However, for many people it is the most important step they take in their lives, so why not take that first step of reaching out today to find out if this is for you?
Practice description
I offer individual counselling to adults across Staffordshire and the UK.
Online and Phone Counselling
Online sessions take place via Zoom- an accessible and convenient option which can fit around your schedule. Alternatively you can opt for phone sessions.
Once your online appointment has been confirmed, you will be emailed a link to join the session. With phone counselling, I will call you at the agreed appointment time.
I am trained to deliver counselling online and by phone, and am experienced in both. You may be surprised at the depth of therapeutic relationship that can be built when working in these ways!
Outdoor Counselling
Being in nature can be a great way of connecting with yourself. This type of counselling allows you to experience the freedom of being outdoors, whilst being held within a nurturing space.
Physical movement, mindfulness and engaging the senses can all bring shifts in perspectives, creativity and a deeper intuition.
Outdoor sessions take place in a variety of beautiful countryside locations surrounding one of the villages near Newcastle-under-Lyme. Tailored to suit your needs and preferences, sessions can involve a gentle or more challenging walk, sitting still- or a mixture of both.
If you choose outdoor therapy, we will begin with at least one online session to assess the suitability of this type of therapy and discuss how to make the sessions work best for you. We will decide on a location, and meet there at our agreed appointment time.
Indoor Counselling
I now offer in-person sessions in The Therapy Shed- a warm and comfortable space in my garden with an outdoorsy feel!
Creative Counselling
Clients working online or in-person may like to explore the power of art to understand and express their emotions. I can discuss this with you at our first session.
Issues I work with: anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, grief, life direction/purpose, self-esteem, trauma, perfectionism, spirituality/faith, loneliness, people-pleasing and more.
My first session
If you are interested in starting counselling with me, we can have a brief discussion either on the phone or by email/text about the issues you are facing, and what type of counselling you would like. I will then let you know my availability so you can book an initial session. You will also be emailed the contract to sign, plus details about how to pay.
The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and decide whether we are compatible, and whether I am able to offer you the right support. I will ask you to tell me more about yourself, including significant life events, what has brought you to counselling, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We will discuss how we might work safely and effectively together, and will explore the contract.
Sessions are then regular at a set time each week (or possibly fortnight), though this can be flexible if needed. We work on a session-by-session basis; you do not have to commit to a certain number of sessions and can continue until you no longer need therapy support.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have more questions, and I will do my best to assist.

Practice description
I offer individual online and phone counselling to adults across the UK. I also see clients local to Stoke-on-Trent in-person, both outdoor and indoors.
Online sessions take place via Zoom- an accessible and convenient option which can fit around your schedule.
With online counselling, I offer the opportunity to work creatively with art materials, images and symbols, though this is completely optional. If you are interested, I usually suggest we introduce this after a few sessions, so we can build trust and see what themes emerge to explore creatively. A few examples of the types of exercise which can be helpful include timelines, self-portraits, family trees/ genograms, virtual sandtray work, to name a few!
All sessions take place on a regular basis, usually weekly or fortnightly (though this can be discussed if your needs are different). When you begin counselling, there is no expectation to commit to a minimum number of sessions. We can work in an open-ended way, and continue until it feels the time has come to end.
Issues I work with:
Self-esteem & confidence
Bereavement & loss
Anxiety & stress
Depression/ low mood
Trauma
Self-development and finding direction
Spiritual/existential issues
Rediscovering creativity
Pregnancy/birth- related issues
Loneliness
Neurodivergence including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia
