About me and my therapy practice

Life can be incredibly challenging, and asking for help can feel quite daunting. But, whatever is concerning you - no matter how big or small - your feelings are valid and you deserve to live your best life. Making the decision to start counselling is the first step in showing yourself that you are important. If you choose me as your counsellor, I'd be honoured to help you find your way back to the life you want.

If you're feeling stuck or misunderstood, lonely or isolated, fearful, frustrated, hurt, or struggling to find hope; like there’s nowhere to turn, that people don’t care, or they just don’t want to listen; or it may be that you don’t want to be a burden, talking things through with a trained and experienced counsellor who doesn't judge, who cares and understands, can help you take that all-important breath, unravel your racing, jumbled thoughts and provide the supportive space you need to make a change.

I'm qualified as an integrative therapist, which means that I'm trained in a variety of different counselling theories, and enables me to adapt the sessions to suit your individual needs, rather than try and fit you into a model that doesn't work for you.

My past experience has mainly been working in a university setting, as well as with children and young people through a small charity, which has meant I've had the privilege of building strong connections with clients of all ages (from 11 years upwards) and backgrounds who have struggled with anything from anxiety to intrusive suicidal thoughts. I've witnessed first-hand how counselling can turn lives around.

Practice description

I offer face-to-face sessions in a quiet, warm and cosy room near Christchurch and the New Forest, which is easily accessible by car (plenty of parking available), train (Hinton Admiral is 1 mile away) or bus (the X1/X2 stop is less than a minute away). Alternatively, we can meet online. Or, if you'd prefer walk and talk - this is often an option for those who find eye contact difficult - this can also be arranged.

If you're looking for short-term sessions, a minimum of 6 is generally recommended; however, even 1 session can make a difference. I also offer long-term, open-ended sessions. Whatever works for you.

If you're  a parent looking for counselling for your child, or maybe you'd like to talk through your worries about your child with someone experienced with working with children and young people, get in touch, as I might be the perfect option for you.

Alternatively, if you don't have children, whether by choice or not by choice, talking to someone who isn't a parent may appeal to you.

In addition, if you are a university student who would like sessions outside of your institution, I have extensive experience of working in universities and am likely to be able to understand your particular situation and experience, and would be more than willing to help.

My first session

Whatever your needs, finding the right counsellor is really important, which is why it's best to have a chat over the phone in the first instance to gauge whether we're the right fit for each other. This first appointment will usually last around 15 minutes and will be free of charge.

I look forward to hearing from you.
