About me and my therapy practice

PLEASE SEE MY WEBSITE (CONTACT PAGE) FOR MY CURRENT AVAILABILITY.

鈥淭he curious paradox is that when I accept myself, just as I am, then I can change.鈥 - Carl Rogers.

I offer a safe space where you can identify any learnt messages and separate them from who you really are: not who you have become, by trying to conform and please the world and others. Through a neuro-affirmative lens, I support you in recognising and celebrating your differences while understanding the effect of social expectations and judgements on how you view those differences. You are the expert on you, but you may have just lost your voice.

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. My core training was in the person-centred model, but since first qualifying, I have gained training and experience in other therapeutic methods, and I use psychoeducation, lived experience, and my natural strengths, such as cognitive understanding and pattern-finding, to help you gain new insights and awareness.

Counselling is about the relationship and feeling safe to explore our inner world and worries with someone who understands and without fear of judgment. So, it鈥檚 important to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with.

Senior accredited with NCS - SCoPEd Colum C and ACTO member.

Enhanced DBS since 2001.

-Bachelor of Science (BSc) First Class Honours Degree in Counselling

FEES

I try to keep sessions affordable while respecting my years of experience and level of training. To do this, I offer a sliding-scale fee of between 拢60 and 拢80 per session.

When we agree to work together, I will ask you to select a price you can afford (between 拢60 and 拢80), which we will agree on in your contract. This fee will not be questioned; I trust you to pay what you can.

I also have two 拢30 concession places for low-income households or students.

I offer weekly and fortnightly sessions (depending on availability).

Reflecting and undoing internalised negative beliefs (ableism) can be long-term work. But I offer short-term sessions, too, or even one-off sessions. We will frequently review to ensure you are still benefiting from sessions.

I offer a free 15-minute phone call, or an initial 30-minute session (拢30)

My first session

We will communicate via email and then by telephone (optional, as phone calls are not comfortable for everyone) to discuss your aims and how I work. We will also get a sense of whether we both feel a connection and if what I offer suits you or your child's needs.

We will then decide and progress onto our first session.

About me and my therapy practice

Face-to-face and online sessions available.

I have over 18 years experience as a counsellor. I am currently a PhD student researching how counselling is experienced by those who are autistic. I am a published researcher into the experiences of autistic counsellors here in the UK https://doi.org/10.1002/capr.12839. I have also self-published my pieces on being an AuDHD counsellor working in schools (here), and a reflexive piece on whether ADHD needs to be recognised in the counselling room (here).

I have an MA, BSc, and Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. In addition to being a counsellor, I have over 20 years of experience therapeutically working with children and young people within the care sector, including management and supervisory roles.  鈥

Even though I am autistic and have ADHD (combined) and work mostly with autistic and ADHD clients, due to my core training, I can, and do, support both neurodiverse and allistic clients/supervisees.

LGBTQIA+ safe space and trans allied,

I am senior accredited with the NCPS, and I have applied for senior accreditation with the 网爆门 (awaiting feedback).鈥嬧嬧
