About me and my therapy practice
At Amethyst Counselling, I offer a warm, understanding space for adults, a place where you can begin to untangle your thoughts, make sense of what you’ve experienced, and regain a sense of control and direction in your life.
I specialise in anxiety, trauma recovery, bereavement, and self-esteem, always through a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approach. Whether you identify as neurodivergent (in any of its forms), different or none of these therapy is tailored to work with your unique way of thinking and feeling — not against it.
How I Work
Therapy at Amethyst Counselling is a collaborative process — together, we explore what helps you feel safe, understood, and empowered. My work draws on person-centred values, mindfulness, and gentle, evidence-based methods to help you manage anxiety, understand your emotions, and build self-trust.
I believe that neurodivergent experiences are differences, not deficits. My role is to help you view your challenges through this affirming lens, supporting self-acceptance and resilience.
What Counselling Can Help You Do
• Learn effective strategies to cope with and process anxiety and trauma so you can feel calmer and more relaxed.
• Understand past experiences and find ways to carry them forward that feel right for you.
• Gain clarity and insight through discussion and reflection.
• Identify and change patterns of thought or behaviour that hold you back.
• Develop new ways to handle challenging emotions and situations.
• Build confidence and strengthen self-esteem.
Who I Support
You might come to counselling because you feel:
• Overwhelmed by anxiety or stress
• Exhausted by masking or people-pleasing
• Disconnected after trauma or loss
• Unsure about your identity or how to embrace being neurodivergent
Together, we can work toward clarity, confidence, and a sense of calm at your pace.
Practice description
I offer sessions from Chorley (PR6) — easily reached from Preston, Bolton, and Wigan — and online nationwide via secure video or phone.
I offer face to face, online or telephone counselling which is neurodiverse affirming and trauma informed, to help you talk through whatever you are going through without fear of being judged or of upsetting someone. Somewhere you can sort through the tangle in your head/life, take control of your thoughts , feel more confident in you and the decisions you make and break free from old habits.
You may well be finding it hard to find someone you’re able to open up to just from reading a few words online. Why not get in touch for an informal chat so you feel at ease when choosing me to support you during this difficult time in your life.
Sessions are confidential.
For more information please contact me for more information/any questions
I charge £60 per session which can be paid by card, bank transfer or cash.

In the first session we will discuss what I call the counselling agreement - this sets out the boundaries of how we will work together, the time frame, frequency of sessions, confidentiality etc. We will then talk about what has brought you into counselling, the things you want to work on and the things you want to achieve as well as what has and hasn't worked for you in the past. About me and my therapy practice
I offer compassion focussed Supervision looking at all areas of your work (based on the seven eyed model of supervision) to empower you to be the best counsellor and you that you can be. Supervision is there for you to explore how you work, how the work/client affects you and how you affect the work/client, my aim is to help you explore all of this in a safe space, with no judgment and gentle challenges.

I have been a qualified counsellor since 2018, initially training in Person Centred Counselling but have since added to my 'tool box' with things such as EMDR, CBT, NLP, Compassion Focussed Therapy and EFT (tapping) so now describe myself as working more in an Integrative way. I currently work in my own private practice but have in the past worked for a company offering EAP type counselling along with specialist bereavement counselling - particularly for those bereaved by suicide. I have extensive experience working with anxiety, low self-esteem and bereavement and in the past have worked as a nurse, midwife and in a women's centre.

Supervision, like counselling itself, is a relational experience, it is so important to find a supervisor who you feel fits with you and your way of working, who can challenge you in the way you want to be challenged and help you explore you and your work in the way that fits for you so why not send me a message, ask me questions and even have an initial session to see if I am the right fit.
Practice description
I work from my welcoming office on the 1st floor of a small building in Adlington. Sessions can be conducted Face to Face, online or over the phone.
I can offer one off sessions to cover breaks in supervision or regular, longer term supervision.
My first session
I can offer an initial free 30 minute session so you c an see if the way I work aligns with your needs and to see if we are a good fit.
Initially we will discuss the contract, confidentiality, boundaries etc. before talking through what you need and want from supervision and what I can offer.
