Daytime sessions on Wednesdays

We will work out the frequency of sessions after discussion- I recognise that therapy is a financial investment, and affordability sometimes dictates how often we might meet. However it can be most helpful to plan to meet weekly or fortnightly to begin with
About me and my therapy practice
I recognise how challenging seeking support can be. I aim to offer a safe space for you to explore the issues which are causing you distress, without judgment. For you to have got to this page is the first brave step to reaching out, please contact me if you would like to discuss your needs further, and how counselling could help.
Once you send an email or make a call I usually respond within 24 hours.
We will arrange a time for a 10-15 minute telephone call. During this call you will get opportunity to get a sense of me and how I work. We will talk about your reasons for seeking therapy I will then email the details to follow up, along with available times and dates.
Booking is confirmed with payment by bank transfer and you will receive confirmation of the details of your booking via email
Practice description
We can work together on the phone, on video or in person, whichever you prefer. We will explore what has happened to you, your current experience, supporting you to work through difficult feelings towards the future you envisage.
So often where we "are" is not "where we thought we might be", or doesn't "feel" the way we thought it would. When difficult things have happened to us, we might find a disconnect between what we "think" and how we feel inside. We might feel numb or experience such intensity of overwhelming feelings in our body that we are not sure what to "do with them"
So often in life we feel the pressure to have the answers, to have a route, a map written out. In my practice I create a space where you can bring the confusion of thoughts, feelings and experiences and begin to untangle them, making sense of them together. A place to hear yourself, and make sense of everything, we walk together where you want to go, exploring and making discoveries along the way. This may allow you to find routes on your map you didn't know existed, or even a new map altogether
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
I am a qualified EMDR therapist
EMDR is an type of psychotherapy that helps people heal from trauma and other issues. It is most well known intervention for treating PTSD, and cPTSD, but can also be helpful for depression, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, addiction, grief and loss
It might be that you have recently noticed that your body is activated, and you are experiencing a sense of overwhelming physical or emotional sensations. You may, or may not be aware of what is triggering these feelings. It might be that issues you long thought you had dealt with have reemerged
We can integrate EMDR into therapy sessions. Once we have completed your first session we can discuss how this might work in practice
My first session
Our first session is a little different to future sessions. I will tell you about what I offer, and we will talk through confidentiality (and its limits), data protection so you are confident of what I do with your information, and how I keep it. We will complete an assessment together. I will ask about the different aspects of your life and experience, and we can get a clear picture of what has happened to date, where you find yourself now, and where you would like to be.
We will then talk through a plan together, this maybe whether I am able to support you, or whether I signpost you to another kind of therapy or therapist, whether it is short term or longer term piece of work, and decide together when, how and the frequency we can meet.
What is most important is that it feels right, so you have the option of taking time to reflecting how the session felt to you and if you wish to continue with me

Practice description
Supervision is all about collaboration. Together we will develop a sense of your practice and those aspects you wish to develop. Our relationship is key to this, just as it is with your client work. I will create and hold a space where you can bring your client work. Together we can explore all aspects of this, and support you in the work with your clients. Your well-being is central to the support you provide to your clients, having access to supervision that enables you to feel held and supported allows us to explore and challenge together, making space to grow
My first session
Our first session is an opportunity for us to meet and develop a sense of how we each work. Together we will gather an overview of your work, and what you feel you need from supervision, your goals and challenges in your work.
You will have opportunity to meet me and begin to develop a sense of how I work and how supervision with me feels
We will consider how your needs might be met within supervision and will both have time and space after the session to reflect before choosing whether or not to make a further booking
