About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced therapist offering online and face to face sessions in a dedicated room in my home in Portishead near Bristol, as well as 'walk and talk' sessions outdoors by the coast.

Sometimes we do not understand why we are feeling rageful, fearful, low, lost and lacking in meaning and self esteem. We may feel very unsure. Sometimes we know that there are things in our past or in our family life that we need to come to terms with in order to move forward. But coming to counselling takes courage. The process of counselling can help hidden parts of you to find a voice, a voice that may have been lost long ago to bravery and silence - through shame, guilt and fear.

What does this mean for you I wonder? What is your soul calling for?

I know from personal experience both as a client and as a therapist that talking therapy helps very many of us to feel more connected, more alive, more at one with ourselves, and more able to make choices that take us in the direction we want to be going.

I have many years experience of working to heal the impact of childhood trauma, including physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect. Areas of special interest include identity and loss, mixed heritage and the impact of boarding school and other forms of family separation.

Paradoxically it is often only by dropping down into the darker realms that we can start to feel more whole and more integrated. I pay attention to all the ways in which the subconscious speaks - through imagery, metaphor and dreams, as well as through the body where trauma may be lodged. I also work relationally, with what may arise between us.

Get in touch: An initial session offers the chance to explore what your difficulties are, what type of help will best meet your needs and whether you’d like to work with me.

Practice description

I pay attention to all the ways in which the subconscious speaks - through our thoughts and impressions, but also through imagery, metaphor and dreams, and through the body where trauma can be lodged. I work relationally, with what may arise between us. The art of therapy is finding the opportunities and moments to connect with deeper voices trying to find their way to the surface, and I will be listening out for what your deeper voice maybe be trying to say in all these ways and more.

My first session

Get in touch to book a first session to discuss what you want to gain from therapy and share a bit of your what brings you here, and any background that feels particularly relevant, as much as you wish to share.
