About me and my therapy practice
Introduction
Hello, My name is Lucy Lewis. I discovered counselling in my 20's and have never looked back. It has the potential to change how we are in the world and how we relate to ourselves and others. I don't underestimate how much courage it takes to make this step, so well done.
If you are looking for change in your life; or you feel stuck; (in relationships, patterns of behavior or with recurring feelings) or perhaps you are looking for some support through a challenging time in your life, maybe counselling is an option for you?
How I work
I believe that how we see ourselves, others and the world is unique and individual. My goal is to understand how you see the world and through working with your early memories; dreams; family background and; life experiences we will identify your 'style of life' and look at how it is serving you day-to-day.
As well as gaining insight into your way of being in the world, I will encourage you to take small steps towards doing things differently........................Insight + Action = Change
I work holistically, considering your feelings, thoughts, behaviors and physical symptoms. They are all linked!
My Training and Qualifications
- Diploma in the Application of Psychodynamic Theory to the Principles of Counselling Skills (2008)
- Diploma in Adlerian Counselling and Psychotherapy (2015)
- Transactional Analysis 101 (UKATA) (2018)
- Íø±¬ÃÅ Accreditation (2022)
- Introductory Certificate in Adlerian Couples Counselling (2023)
Practice description
My Practice
I have been in private practice for 10 years, working with a wide variety of clients on short and long term basis, both face to face and online. I have worked as a counsellor for a G.P service for 5 years offering short term counselling to patients and before then, for a Drugs and Alcohol Service. I also teach counselling skills/theory on a Level 3 Adlerian counselling course.
I work with Adults and with Couples.
What You Can Expect From Me?
You can expect compassion, encouragement, honesty and a commitment to collaborative working, towards your goal, in a safe and confidential space.
My first session
What to expect in your first session
Our first session together is an opportunity for us to get to know each other; for me to fully understand what has brought you to counselling; and for us to openly discuss what you want from it. I explain how I work and what I can offer. You will know by the end of the session whether it feels right for you. If it does, we come up with a plan for working together that meets your needs.
