About me and my therapy practice
I know looking for a therapist and starting counselling can feel daunting. I offer a friendly, welcoming and non-judgmental space where we can talk and explore your thoughts and feelings together. Therapy can help to make sense of things and move towards self acceptance and change.
I have experience working with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationships, self esteem, fertility issues, family issues and low confidence. However you do not need to have experienced huge trauma to begin counselling. Many people I work with are simply looking for a place to talk through the many stresses of day to day life outside of family and friends.
I can support you to gain a greater understanding of how past experiences, or anxieties about the future, may be impacting you in the present and to recognise patterns of behaviour or thoughts that have become unhelpful or distressing. I work with people to better understand and regulate difficult or overwhelming emotions and to reduce overthinking, rumination, anxious thoughts and the physical sensations that accompany them.
I also work with people to alleviate the suffering caused by negative self-talk and stubborn inner critics; transforming harsh, punishing inner dialogues into a voice that is motivating and encouraging.
I know that looking for a therapist and starting sessions can feel daunting and confusing. So if you have any questions at all before booking an introductory session, please do let me know either via email or we can arrange a call if you prefer.
Practice description
I offer sessions on a weekly basis both online via Zoom and in person. Where possible they will be on the same day and time each week.
I work with people on a long or short term therapy depending on individual needs. As everybody is different I am flexible in the way that I work.
My first session
I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is very important. Therefore I offer a free online 30 minute introductory session, or if you prefer to meet in person I charge £15 to cover the cost of the room.
Introductory sessions are an opportunity for us to meet, for you to ask any questions you have, and for me to find out a bit more about you and what you are looking for from counselling. Then we can decide together whether I am the right counsellor for you at the moment.
