About me and my therapy practice
I offer a calm and compassionate space just for you. Here we can take the time to explore anything that may be troubling you and work together to make sense of thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I am trauma informed and specialise in how childhood experiences affect our adulthood. I believe in therapy and its ability to transform people’s lives for the better. I am passionate about empowering people to find their way through the fog to find healing and peace.
People often feel they have been given an incomplete map of life; they feel lost and just need to stop for a while to get their bearings. Perhaps things have been difficult for a long time or something has happened recently that has left you struggling or questioning things. Having therapy offers you a chance to stop and breathe, to have some calm amidst an increasingly busy world. You may be experiencing considerable distress; therefore, I will work carefully to help create a sense of safety and trust.
I have been working as a counsellor since 2015 in the voluntary and charity sector. I have been managing a counselling organisation for the past four years which has given me experience of working with lots of different people on many different issues. Before counselling I worked in the third sector supporting people with substance misuse and have been working with young people aged 14+ in schools and alternative provisions for the past 15 years.
Practice description
I work with people who encounter a wide variety of issues, and I put the client at the centre of my work. I’m unbiased and won’t direct you; we will explore whatever you feel is important and do this at your own pace, however when exploring particularly upsetting experiences, I may slow the session down and use mindfulness to keep you emotionally safe.
I can offer psychoeducation on how trauma impacts our thoughts and feelings as well as provide tools for managing panic and anxiety. I can also give guidance on healing parts of the self that can hold us back or are destructive.
My first session
In our first session I will welcome you and assure you feel at ease. We can talk about what has brought you to therapy, how many sessions you think you may want and what you may need from me. Many people are unsure as to why they want therapy, they might just have a general feeling of unease or low mood, you don’t need to have all the answers, we can figure it out together. What I can help with

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Ellen. I have been working as a counsellor since 2015 working with young people and adults in the voluntary sector, EAP’s, schools and private practice. I also manage a counselling organisation and have been providing supervision to trainees over the past 4 years giving me lots of experience. I am trained in the Hawkins and Shohet model and like to keep that as my base however I am not rigid in how we work and approach supervision in a collaborative way. Before working as a counsellor and supervisor I worked in the charity sector, mainly with young people aged 14+ I also have extensive experience counselling young people and can bring lots of experience and knowledge to our supervision sessions.Practice description
I am warm and friendly, and clients are at the heart of all my work, meaning that your wellbeing is of paramount importance to me. I aim to create a trusting safe environment where we can explore the work together. I am completely non-judgemental and know that learning and growth involve challenge and sometimes uncomfortable feelings, knowing this I do my best to create the conditions necessary for you to bring your whole self to supervision. While supervision is not therapy, I want to make space for you to explore personal experiences that may be impacting on your client work.
My first session
During our first session we will meet and see if we think we will work well together. I want to hear about you, your client base and how you work. You can ask me any questions, and we can just get to know each other a bit. We can discuss any areas for development you may have identified and how you would like to be supported. If we go ahead, I will provide you with my contract and we will decide when and how often we will meet. I charge £40.00 per hour and £60.00 per 1.5hrs and offer concessions for students.
