About me and my therapy practice
As an experienced (19 years) therapist, I bring warmth, safety, honesty and provide a space where you can bring what is troubling you and be truly heard, understood and accepted. I listen with care, offer perspective and work alongside you as you make sense of your challenges and move towards meaningful change.
You might sometimes feel anxious, stuck, vulnerable or even ashamed when unable to make sense of your experience or sharing personal aspects of your life, but I will support you in navigating your personal or life challenges, in a way that will allow you to regain a new sense of acceptance, vitality and creativity.
Depending on what has brought to to therapy, this might mean making sense of confusing experiences and coming to term with them, identifying unhelpful patterns of behaviour, understanding their function and finding new ways of meeting your needs or generally finding a freer and more peaceful way of experiencing your life.
While most of the work takes place through talking, when appropriate, I can also offer more creative ways of working (art, play, cards…) as it is sometimes difficult to find words that describe our experiences. Sometimes people also like to bring their writings, poems, drawings, music, photos etc… to help them communicate their experience.
My approach is integrative, this means that I am able to draw from different models in order to adapt to your needs. My core model is a combination of Person-centered, Psychodynamic and Existentialist approaches and CBT but is also inspired by my experience of psychoanalytic therapy and aspects of art and play therapy, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Bodypsychotherapy and Jungian ideas.
Practice description
Over the years I have worked with several local organisations (Youthline in Bracknell, Space and CRI in Slough) as well as in private practice and with people from many different walks of life, who suffer from a wide range of difficulties such as anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship issues, living with chronic/long term illness and/or mental health conditions, general dissatisfaction with life, work and cultural issues, expressing anger, adoption issues, addiction, transitioning into retirement, family conflicts, parenting, divorce, abortion, bullying, loneliness, learning difficulties, self-harm, fertility issues…
I also work with students in their counselling training and with qualified therapists returning to therapy after their training.
Being bilingual I can offer therapy in English or French and also bring my multicultural life experience to my work, which has enriched my understanding of diversity and deepened my compassion for the struggles of being human.
