About me and my therapy practice
Counselling can seem a strange process. It's a brave, life changing step towards a happier life but it can be hard to put your finger on how it all happens. There is no proven one size fits all approach to this work because no two people are the same.
The counselling relationship provides the right conditions for you to reconnect with your own inner guidance, to learn to trust yourself, to gain clarity, to make more conscious choices and to heal.
I am an experienced therapist with over 19 years experience. I have completed additional trainings to ensure I can competently work with adults, children, teenagers and couples but maybe more importantly than that, I am a genuine and non judgemental fellow human being. I know life can cause us to suffer and we can become stuck in it. What counselling offers is a way of making sense of our suffering, integrating new awareness into our lives and emerging a more whole person.
It is usually a crisis that brings a person to counselling but what we often discover, is that by facing our struggles with courage and honesty, not only do we overcome a difficult time but we make space for a more joyful and fulfilling existence.
Practice description
Self awareness with self compassion.
Learning how to observe, how to self regulate and how to let go of old beliefs or unhelpful habits can free us up to live more joyful and fulfilling lives.
Most of my sessions are walking sessions in the Wyre forest and Shrawley woods. We have always known that a walk can help us feel better. Talking alone is often not enough. Walking as we talk helps us to process the physical response to stress, it regulates our nervous system and helps us to gain clarity and calm. The forward motion of walking helps us to find ways forward, to become unstuck. Walking reminds us that we are more than a set of problems, we are more than what our mind tells us, we are part of nature, part of the wider world, it helps to connect with a bigger picture and gives us perspective and clarity.
If walking is not for you I also work from rooms in Bewdley and Shrawley and online.
