About me and my therapy practice
If you're feeling anxious, low or overwhelmed, I’m here to help. Together we can figure out what’s happening, so you can create a life that’s better for you. I'm a psychotherapist with 10 years’ experience and I work in a neurodivergence-affirming way.
I'm also a wild therapist, which means I'm skilled at working with people outdoors, and that I include your experiences of the wider natural world as part of therapy, as well as your human relationships.
I work online via Zoom and outdoors on Hampstead Heath and in the green spaces around Barnet in north London.
Practice description
I work with different kinds of people who come to see me for many different reasons - and so I work with people in different ways. The common factor is that I seek to get to know you as the unique, complex human being that you are, and to help you thrive.
It's only when we really get to know who we are that we can start to build a life that suits us. This isn't an easy process, and it can take time, so much of my work is long term (think years rather than months). But I do also offer time-limited therapy for people who want to work on a specific issue. Sessions are usually at the same time each week, but there can be some flexibility depending on circumstances. We can work online or outdoors, or a combination of both depending on the time and location.
Doing therapy outdoors is a very different experience from meeting in a therapy room. Being in a place like Hampstead Heath means we’re surrounded by life – from birds and trees to dogs and their humans! Therapy in this context can work really well – being in green spaces is extremely good for our minds, and many people find it easier to talk when they’re walking side by side rather than sitting face to face. But being outdoors doesn’t work for everyone, and so I’ll discuss it with you first before we decide to give it a go.
While much of what I do looks and feels like typical psychotherapy, what I offer is a little bit different. I'm trained as an integrative psychotherapist to Masters’ level and I’m also a late-diagnosed neurodivergent human being. This means I bring together my knowledge of different therapy approaches with my awareness and experience of neurodivergence. Combined with wild therapy, this means therapy with me is both flexible enough to meet you where you are and boundaried enough to provide stability and grounding. My aim is to offer therapy that works for people with neurodivergent minds and lives as well as it does for everyone else.
My first session
The initial session takes place on Zoom, and is a chance for you to tell me more about why you are seeking therapy, and to get a sense of what it's like to work with me. I'll ask you some broader questions about your life, your relationships and your childhood experiences, and I'll talk you through the practicalities of having therapy with me, including fees and my cancellation policy. I charge for the first session at my usual rate.
I'm happy for you to go away and have a think about whether you want to work with me - there's no pressure to decide during the first session if you don't want to. If we decide to go ahead, I'll email you a summary of everything we've discussed and agreed. In a few cases, I may decide I'm not a good fit for you, in which case I'll aim to put you in touch with colleagues or organisations who I think will better meet your needs.
