About me and my therapy practice
If you are experiencing anxiety, constantly worrying, overthinking things or feeling overwhelmed, then as an experienced counsellor specialising in anxiety, I can help. You may be worrying about things like your health, going out to meet people, difficulties in your relationships or a big change in your life or you may be feeling generally anxious without knowing why. Perhaps you are noticing physical symptoms of your anxiety such as a racing heartbeat, tension headaches, digestive problems or difficulties sleeping. You might also be avoiding doing things or struggling with decision making or constantly checking things.
I understand what it is like to feel anxious and how debilitating it can be, as I struggled with anxiety myself for many years. Therapy transformed my life by helping me to understand the underlying reasons for my anxiety and learn ways to manage my anxiety. I would love to help you to achieve similar outcomes from therapy.
Practice description
How can I help you ?
In our sessions, you will be able to talk about what's worrying you so that you feel heard and understood. I can support you to look at the underlying causes of your difficulties and you can learn relaxation techniques to manage stress, reduce panic and feel more grounded. I can help you to shift unhelpful thinking patterns and find the confidence to do the things you have been avoiding.
I can also help with a wide range of other issues that you might be struggling with, such as coping with chronic illness, issues in your relationships or a big change in your life such as a divorce or bereavement. I have particular experience in supporting people through cancer diagnosis and treatment.
I have 10 years of counselling experience with a wide range of issues including working in a GP surgery, a grammar school, a hospice and a cancer drop-in centre as well as having my own private practice.
My first session
Contacting a therapist can feel daunting especially when you are already feeling anxious, but I am very friendly and approachable. If you are interested in the possibility of working with me, please message me and I will arrange a free 20 minute telephone consultation so that you can get an idea whether I might be the right counsellor for you and I can answer any initial questions that you have. It is then totally up to you as to whether you want to go ahead and book a session.
In the first 50 minute session, we will talk through some initial questions about your background and presenting issues and find out what you would like to achieve in counselling.
