About me and my therapy practice
I am a kind and compassionate counsellor with over 10 years experience working in NHS and counselling services in the North East. My practice is focused on creating a safe, accepting space where you feel supported and understood.
People come for counselling for all kinds of reasons – periods of change or loss, relationship difficulties, past experiences or worries for the future. Sometimes there is a clear issue to work with, and a goal to work towards. Sometimes it could be a general sense that something isn’t right, an uneasy feeling that something needs your attention. Whatever brings you here to my page, you are welcome.
Practice description
I am an integrative counsellor, with a predominantly person-centred approach. I have training and experience in different kinds of therapy, which I can draw on when we are working together. I am happy to share more about my approach with you, if this is interesting to you.
I think of counselling as time and space – time for yourself, space to stop and think – but rather than take that time on your own, we will meet there together. My role, if you decide to work with me, is to bring my skills and experience into the shared space of your counselling session. You just bring yourself, and a willingness to take a risk and talk openly.
I try to be the sort of counsellor I would like to talk to. I don’t just sit in silence. I will tell you about what I’m thinking and feeling, and I may suggest exercises for us to try or things for you to do outside of sessions. These are always optional. If what you need is space to talk freely with no interruptions, judgement or expectations, that’s what we will do.
I have particular interest and experience in working with neurodivergent people, which has grown from my own late diagnoses of dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD. I am a LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute introductory call. If, after this, you decide you are interested in working with me, we will arrange your first session.
Your first session will be a 60 minute assessment. During the assessment I will take more details and ask questions to help me understand more about your needs. It's also an opportunity for you to get to know me better, and check you feel happy to go ahead with counselling.
Further information about my practice and the process of starting counselling is sent by email when you get in touch.
Please let me know if you have any access needs or require any reasonable adjustments.

About me and my therapy practice
I offer supervision to counsellors working within organisations and privately.
My fees are:
£85 per 90 minute supervision session
£60 per 60 minute supervision session
Practice description
My approach is broadly person centred with an emphasis on working relationally. I offer a safe, containing and genuine supervisory relationship, aligned with the Íø±¬ÃÅ supervisory framework.
I understand the challenges counsellors face when working within organisations. I see supervision as a place where we can centre the client, the counselling model, and your own needs as a practitioner, while holding the context where you work in mind.
I am experienced in providing line management and supervision in NHS Talking Therapies Services and am qualified to supervise counsellors working in the Person Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression model.
