Life can feel overwhelming and you may find yourself struggling to cope. Accepting that you need professional help is the first step and reaching out for support can feel daunting but I am passionate about normalising "help', as it is the first step and a catalyst towards change.
I have over 25 years experience as a Psychotherapist in Health care, Social care and Education. I have achieved an MSc in Advanced Psychotherapy and Counselling and an extensive, ongoing training portfolio. Alongside my private practice I am employed by EAP companies (Employee Assistance Programme) to provide counselling to clients working within NHS Trusts, GMP, armed forces and other businesses. I am also employed as a specialist Mental Health adviser to university students across the country.
I have a specialism in complicated/prolonged grief having trained with the centre for prolonged grief in New York. Supporting clients who have experienced the deaths of loved ones in traumatic circumstances.
I am an accredited, fully qualified member of the 网爆门 (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (M网爆门, Accred) and I work within their ethical framework.
Practice description
I offer a relaxed, non-judgemental, supportive space, where you will feel valued, understood and free to explore the complexities of your life, relationships and future aspirations. I use evidence-based strategies to cultivate self-awareness, self-compassion, and resilience to work towards sustainable goals at your own pace, helping us understand what might be impacting your emotional wellbeing. Integrative therapy can be long or short term, I offer open-ended therapy with regular check in's to revisit progress. My aim being to sit with you to explore your underlying beliefs, judgements and defences which may shape how you experience yourself and your relationships, and to gain insight into how the past may be influencing your present.
Why choose counselling with me?
I don鈥檛 attempt to 鈥渇ix鈥 you, I have found that therapy works best when we work collaboratively, so you continue to grow once therapy ends. I am not a silent therapist. You will feel accepted and heard through guided self-discovery to find your own answers, to empower you to look towards the future with a better outlook to make the changes you desire. I have a passion for supporting others to find the best version of themselves.
My unique approach integrates therapeutic counselling and life coaching, when appropriate to your individual needs. Offering a holistic approach to process emotional challenges, while fostering personal growth, well-being, and sustainable goals. Person Centred counselling allows you to identify changes you would like to make while life coaching techniques develop sustainable positive change and compassion focussed therapy encourages a kinder approach to your challenges, encouraging you to become kinder and more compassionate to yourself, embracing the wisdom, self-acceptance and confidence that life can offer.
Counselling with me is a chance for you to pause, take a breath and be heard whilst untangling your struggles. Together we can explore what鈥檚 weighing you down.
My first session
Finding the right therapist is important, I therefore offer an optional complementary 15 minute telephone consultation to assess if we are a good therapeutic fit, and to give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding the counselling process and the way I work.
You can then take time to see how you feel in the following days before deciding if you would like to proceed with sessions. There is no obligation to continue after this consultation. If I feel another service or therapist may be better suited to your needs, I鈥檒l offer guidance on alternative options. If you are ready to proceed I will book you in for an assessment session and send over a working agreement which we will discuss in detail during the first session.
Some people prefer to book straight in for the 50 minute assessment session, where we will discuss our working agreement, then we鈥檒l gently explore what鈥檚 brought you to counselling, what you are hoping to gain, and how I might best support you.
I understand that counselling can be a huge step, so I provide a warm, welcoming space where you feel safe, heard, and fully supported, without judgement. The assessment stage may take a few sessions to gain a thorough understanding to help me develop an individual treatment plan.
Please reach out when ready to take the next step, to arrange a consultation. I will look forward to meeting you.
