About me and my therapy practice
I work with adults, young people and children.
I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) Accredited counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Brighton University.
I have 8 years experience working as senior therapist and a designated safeguarding lead for a therapeutic service within a large charity in West Sussex. I now have my own private practice in Lewes, East Sussex. I also offer video and phone counselling for adults and teenagers across the UK.
I work with clients who are feeling anxious, stressed and overwhelmed with their current life experience. This may be connected to school, work, relationships, health, losses or other big life changes. During our initial sessions we will look closely at the issues you are experiencing and collaborate to find an approach for addressing them that works for you.
My career has also involved many years working in health, wellbeing, education and sports development with adults, young people and children of all ages. This includes counselling adults for an East Sussex drug and alcohol service and for a bereavement charity.
Additional qualifications held include a degree in Philosophy, a Masters in Sports Development and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education with Qualified Teacher Status.
My recent training includes a Certificate in Children's Accelerated Trauma Technique (CATT) with Trauma Psychology and Nature Based Practice for professionals to take their practice outdoors with Circle of Life Rediscovery.
I have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) and full Professional Insurance.
I maintain regular clinical supervision and as an accredited member of the (Íø±¬ÃÅ), abide by their code of ethics and good practice.
I am a member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ's Private Practice, Workplace and Children, Young People and Families divisions. I take part in continued professional development.
Practice description
Adults
I offer in person counselling from my garden counselling room in Lewes, alongside video and phone counselling for adults across the UK.
I also offer walk and talk counselling in Lewes. Walk and talk counselling can be helpful for people who find the conventional therapy setting awkward and uncomfortable, as well as those who generally find it easier to talk when moving. For some, walking side by side can allow thoughts and feelings to flow and be processed more easily. The rhythmic act of walking and being in nature can have far reaching beneficial and healing effects.
I offer regular weekly appointments at the same time each week. I can work with you in a shorter time limited way or for open-ended longer-term work.
Adult counselling session fee is £65.
- Children and young people
I offer in person client led play and arts-based therapy and counselling for 7-17 year olds and am passionate about offering much needed support to this age group.
I also offer video and phone counselling for older teenagers across the UK.
Working in a client led way, allows a flexible adjustment to my approach with play, arts and talking according to the age, need and preference of the child or young person.
I aim to provide a supportive and nurturing service, with the therapeutic relationship holding central importance, in creating a safe space where experiences, emotions, trauma and loss can be processed.
Children and young person's session fee is £70.
I offer regular weekly appointments at the same time each week.
There are options to work in a time limited way, such as up to 6 or 12 sessions or in an open-ended way over a longer period of time.
I work from my garden counselling room in Lewes.
If your child is at school in Lewes, I may also able to see them within the school day at their school if that is appropriate and a preferred option.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute phone call so you can get a sense of how I work and we can decide together if I might be the right counsellor for you.
I reserve a small number of reduced-fee sessions for people who may not otherwise be able to access counselling due to financial constraints. These spaces may not always be available, but I encourage you to reach out if cost is a barrier.
