About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to my page. My practice is grounded in a person-centred philosophy & synergised with being trauma-informed. As such, I strive to meet you with empathy, honesty & respect, working with you to facilitate deeper somatic, embodied understanding.

Ultimately, I work to listen to all that is communicated, facilitating the expression of thoughts, emotions, & physical feelings; thus, I include what may be beyond words. I also provide a safe environment to help you address misplaced responsibility, while acknowledging inequalities and social pressures, as you do not exist in a societal vacuum.

Through this collaborative therapy, you may uncover pathways to reclaim agency, cultivate self-compassion, & potentially restore authentic connection with yourself — potentially leading to a deeper, more apparent communication with your inner guidance.

Offering

Individual, couples, group, and family therapy, plus clinical supervision. I am registered with AXA, Bupa, WPA, Aviva, and Allianz, accommodating those using insurance.

About Me

I am a cis woman of mixed British and North African heritage. I have a preference for mindful living, having experienced expanded awareness through clear thought. Correspondingly, I am ecologically minded and am an advocate for a fair and ethical society.

I have a preference for mindful living and have experienced intense moments of expanded awareness through clarity; correspondingly, I am ecologically minded and an advocate for a fair, ethical, liberated society.

Professionally, I hold a First-Class BA in Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy and certifications in complementary modalities. Currently nearing completion of a PgCert in Psychological Trauma from the University of Chester, I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ-accredited Counsellor–Psychotherapist with over a decade of experience, and I have been at Flourish for 8 years. I have also trained counselling students and facilitated therapeutic groups for more than seven years.

Practice description

You may arrive at therapy for various reasons, including anxiety, depression, emotional numbness, relationship strain, limiting habits, coping mechanism fatigue, recurring conflicts, disconnection, self-sabotage, & other effects of acute stress, imbalance and trauma.

My work is respectful, empathic, & honest facilitation of embodied self-understanding. Opening dialogue between your body, mind, & inner being is rarely smooth or pain-free; however, you may learn to understand the language of you - your feelings, thoughts, and perceptions, aiding realisations of what can chain you to co-dependency, misplaced responsibility, & sort which behaviours, thoughts, & world views fit.

With clearer perception, & in the presence of a non-judgmental, understanding therapist, you may find yourself naturally breaking down old structures to step into a more authentic, honest & original you.

Alongside face-to-face, in-room sessions, I offer outdoor, walk-and-talk sessions along the wooded paths leading to the shoreline. If you have limited mobility, we can meet at a mutually agreed-upon outdoor location.

Furthermore, in the interest of transcending words, I facilitate creative expression through art and sand tray.

Please let me know if any adjustments on Zoom or in the room are required; I am happy to accommodate.

My first session

The Initial Session

I offer an initial session for individuals, either in-person (£30) or via phone or video link, for free. For couples, the initial session costs £35. Please contact me for information about any alternative programs.

Meeting in person can be helpful, as it allows you to get familiar with our therapy space, which is bright yet cosy and located on the first floor of Hamble Memorial Hall. The building offers a lift, parking, disabled toilets, and disabled parking. If you need any adjustments, please let me know. Unfortunately, the room is currently not accessible for wheelchair users due to fire regulations.

Regardless of where we meet, the initial session is your opportunity to determine if therapy with me suits your needs. If we decide to proceed, we will work together to find a mutually agreeable time and day for our sessions, ideally meeting regularly.

Initial/Assessment Session Costs

- Face-to-Face (Initial) - £25-£30 (30 minutes)

- Walk & Talk (Initial) - £25-£30 (30 minutes) in the room

- Couples (Initial) - £35 (60 minutes)

- Zoom or Phone Call (Initial) - Free (30 minutes)

Planning

There is no standard number of sessions; however, if you prefer brief, time-limited sessions, it's ideal that the issues you present align with a realistic time frame. There may be ethical implications if the exploration of particular topics becomes too extensive. We may also need to reassess if we uncover something significant that might challenge your current coping mechanisms.

When It’s Not Wise to Continue

If we have someone in common or if you are experiencing a situation that could be harmful to explore at this time, it may not be wise to continue. If there is violence towards the partner you are seeking counselling with. Or if what you need is medical assistance. Additionally, if I feel my understanding is limited, it may be more beneficial to refer you to a colleague with more extensive experience or expertise in a relevant area.
