Practice description

You may be suffering from anxiety, depression, loss or changes in circumstance. You may feel life is passing you by, be searching for your meaning or just feel stuck.

Whether you’ve had counselling before, or you’re looking for someone to try a different approach to familiar issues, counselling can be an enormously beneficial and enriching process.

I also see people who are feeling overwhelmed,  not coping or those who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts.

Talking therapies have the power to heal deeply and empower us to find fulfilment in the every day.

My training is in psychodynamic counselling, but I also have attending courses in other approaches..

Psychodynamic therapy looks at how events in our past affect how we function now, means we can attempt to change negative patterns of behaviour and thoughts, in order to live in a healthier and less burdened way.

My first session

I offer a no obligation first session, which provides the time and space to explore your concerns and talk about what you'd like to achieve from counselling.

Weekly appointments of 50 minutes are then offered, on a regular day and time, with some flexibility.

If you are searching for a clearer understanding of your current situation and would value the opportunity to discuss your issues in a safe environment, then please contact me to arrange an appointment.

About me and my therapy practice

As both a counsellor with 30 years of experience and a former nurse, I bring a unique perspective to therapy. My background includes counselling work in GP surgeries, University College Hospital (UCLH), occupational health settings, and private practice. Where appropriate, this medical foundation allows me to provide exceptional support for clients struggling with health-related challenges.

I provide a confidential, non judgemental space, helping people to feel better and develop coping strategies. Through active listening and exploration of your circumstances, I am able to gain insight into your situation or stuckness and enable  you to focus and progress.

I see people face-to-face as I think this is most effective. I sometimes offer online sessions as a component of the work

Here is a testimonial from one client:

"I came to Julie as a first time mum, a few months after having my little one. It was a particularly difficult time for myself and my family. As a young professional prior to having the baby, I felt as though suddenly everything was out of my control and that I wasn’t coping. Having Julie’s help in working through that time was invaluable. Julie showed empathy, patience, understanding and a kindness I had never experienced with other therapists. I am now really enjoying my time as a mum - I was really lucky to have found Julie when I did and can’t recommend her enough."

Practice description

I create a confidential, judgment-free space where we'll work together to:

Alleviate anxiety and build confidence

Process grief and navigate bereavement

Develop personalised coping strategies

Support and enable those with stress, depression and trauma

Transform low self-esteem or self-confidence into self-acceptance

Through active listening and collaborative exploration, you'll gain clarity about your situation and develop practical tools for positive change. My clients often report that regular sessions not only relieve the isolation they once felt but also empower them to manage daily life with greater ease.

Whether you’ve had counselling before, or you’re looking for someone to try a different approach to familiar issues, counselling can be an enormously beneficial and enriching process.

Talking therapies have the power to heal deeply and empower us to find fulfilment in the every day.

Choosing Julie Kleeman as my counsellor was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I came to Julie recently bereaved & felt completely overwhelmed by my grief and life in general. From the moment I met her she created a safe space in which I could begin to address my grief and it’s ramifications. She is kind beyond words, non-judgemental and genuinely empathetic. I am so so grateful to her for helping me at a time when I felt I couldn’t help myself. Over time she helped me to process my grief and see beyond the immediate distress and upset, whilst also assisting me to adopt positive coping mechanisms for the future. I genuinely cannot recommend her highly enough, she is a true counsellor in every sense of the word. (testimonial by C.S.)
