About me and my therapy practice
My approach is structured, collaborative, and compassionate. I work mainly with high-achieving midlife professionals who appear successful outwardly but privately struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, or self-doubt. Many feel exhausted by pressure, unable to switch off, and caught in cycles of overthinking or self-criticism.
In our sessions, you can expect me to be both warm and clear. I will listen attentively, but I also offer honest feedback and practical strategies. I don’t believe therapy is only about talking; it’s also about creating meaningful change. My style is direct yet respectful, combining structure with empathy, so that therapy feels purposeful, safe, and human.
I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, and perfectionism, as well as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). These evidence-based methods enable us to address immediate symptoms, such as panic, low mood, or stress, while also exploring the deeper beliefs and patterns that perpetuate difficulties.
My practice is trauma-informed and sensitive to the ways that childhood experiences, adversity, or neurodiversity can shape how clients experience themselves in adulthood. For many high achievers, patterns of overwork, perfectionism, or imposter syndrome are often linked to early experiences of conditional self-worth. Understanding these patterns, while also learning practical coping tools, can be a powerful combination.
Clients often describe therapy with me as both supportive and challenging in a helpful way. Together, we might work on managing emotions, setting boundaries, improving self-acceptance, and rediscovering the confidence to live more authentically. Humour, when appropriate, can also bring perspective and lightness to the work.
Above all, I aim to create an environment where you feel understood, respected, and able to move towards balance, resilience, and a stronger sense of yourself.
Practice description
Many of my clients are professionals who, despite outward success, find themselves privately struggling. You may be experiencing anxiety, panic, or health worries; feeling low or burnt out; or caught in perfectionism and self-doubt. Work stress, relationship difficulties, or unresolved trauma may add to the sense that life feels overwhelming.
I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where these challenges can be explored openly. Therapy with me is collaborative and active: I won’t just listen, I will also provide structure, feedback, and tools you can apply. Clients often say they value this balance of compassion and clarity, which helps them feel both supported and guided.
I have over 20 years of experience as a therapist, including more than a decade in the City of London, where I worked with professionals under intense pressure. I am a BABCP-accredited CBT therapist with training in anxiety, depression, PTSD, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and ADHD. My approach is trauma-informed and sensitive to the impact of childhood experiences and neurodiversity.
A typical therapy plan may include identifying unhelpful thinking patterns, learning techniques to manage stress and emotions, and addressing core beliefs that drive self-criticism or imposter syndrome. Alongside symptom relief, I also support clients to build resilience, rediscover motivation, and reconnect with values and meaning.
Clients often notice they feel calmer, more able to cope, and more confident in themselves. Some describe finally being able to switch off, set boundaries, and enjoy life again. Others find therapy gives them a clearer sense of direction and the ability to approach work and relationships with more ease and authenticity.
My first session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and decide whether working together feels like a good fit. I see this as a collaborative process; therapy works best when you feel comfortable with both the approach and the therapist.
In this session, I will invite you to share what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. Some people come with a clear goal, while others simply know that life feels overwhelming and want support to make sense of it. Both are absolutely fine. Together, we will begin to clarify your concerns and priorities.
I may ask some structured questions to build a fuller picture of your situation, such as the difficulties you’re experiencing, your history with stress or anxiety, and any strategies you have tried before. This is not a test, but a way of ensuring therapy is tailored to your needs. If appropriate, I will suggest completing assessment questionnaires to help track progress over time.
The first session also gives you the chance to ask questions about how I work, what therapy may involve, and what you can expect from the process. I will explain how sessions are structured, what confidentiality means in practice, and how we can work together towards your goals.
At the end, you can decide whether you’d like to continue with further sessions. There is no obligation to commit beyond this point; it’s important that you feel confident and comfortable in your choice.
