About me and my therapy practice
Accredited Counsellor, Therapist and Clinical Supervisor. **Saturday spaces available from October**
With over 20 years’ experience, I have helped navigate people through many of life's traumas, losses and transitions — including depression, anxiety, relationship changes, caring responsibilities, grief, self-harm, past abuse and work-related stress.
We can sometimes lose our sense of self under the weight of life’s challenges. I love helping clients reconnect with their strengths and wisdom, so they feel more resilient, confident and compassionate with themselves as they work through difficult times.
Practice description
I take a person-centred, strengths-based approach, helping you understand responses to traumatic experiences and tackling life’s challenges.
You don’t have to face things alone. I offer a warm, understanding space where you can feel safe to explore your story, heal from trauma, and rediscover your strengths.
Together we’ll find ways to build clarity, confidence and resilience, so you can move forward with a stronger sense of self.
Reach out for a free initial video call or telephone call.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified, experienced counsellor and supervisor working online. I am a registered, accredited member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I studied the Person Centred Approach and prizing the individual is at the core of my work – counselling and supervision. I have also studied Solution Focused Brief Therapy (2007) and Certificate in Creative Supervision (2015). I have a clear Enhanced DBS Certificate (Feb 25). I supervise therapists working with all ages of clients including those working in agencies such as Barnardo’s, Rape Crisis, Victim Support etc. I work online from home in Cumbria.
Over my 20 years post qualifying experience I have worked in many different settings; in NHS Psychological Services, in the Third Sector (Sexual and domestic abuse), in Workplace/EAP environment and private practice. I understand the different agency requirements and their potential effect on client work. I moved from the commercial world before qualifying into the Counselling arena and worked through the differences and challenges of changing careers. I believe I am a warm, thoughtful person who naturally seeks to improve systems and dynamics to benefit all. Having experienced the varied management systems in place across the 3rd sector (especially) from large national organisations with commissioner’s changing outcomes to satisfy to smaller charities run on smaller project funding, I think it is important that the organisational pressures are part of the supervision conversation and do not end up affecting the work with clients.
Practice description
I’ve worked with people who have been affected abuse and trauma and have a good understanding of how the client’s context can impact the engagement and efficacy of therapy. It can be difficult but is important to help advise on how and when it is best ethically to begin therapy or put something else in place first.
Equally, it is essential to work carefully with clients who have recently experienced an event or are going through the justice system.
As a service coordinator processing referrals and doing initial assessments, I completed many risk assessments and safeguarding referrals and presented these in multi-agency settings.
I have worked within teams of different modalities and approaches, respecting differences and recognising strengths and how they can be implemented for best outcomes for the client.
I like to work in a collaborative way with clients and supervisees alike. I’m a warm, resourceful person who is also vigilant and thoughtful about all the ‘people in the room’ whether that is a family system or a workplace, for example.
