About me and my therapy practice
About me:
I am a qualified and accredited psychodynamic counsellor with 12 years experience, helping individuals work through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. I offer a safe, compassionate and confidential space in which to explore your current difficulties.
My practice is informed by psychodynamic principles. I believe that adult behaviours, feelings and thoughts are rooted in our early lives. As we seek to understand those influences on the present, we are able to examine and discuss the current challenges together in more depth and with greater understanding.
Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, loss or life transitions, my aim is to help you to understand the patterns that influence your experiences, and to develop healthier coping strategies.
At times we all feel unable to cope. It can be a relief and source of strength to share difficulties, in confidence and without judgement. I offer a safe space to understand what’s really going on inside.
Qualifications:
• Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from The Counselling Foundation, St Albans
• Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy MÍø±¬ÃÅ (Accred)
• Founder member of the Chiltern Counsellors Network, a group of qualified and committed counsellors offering accessible counselling in the Chilterns area.
• I am committed to on going professional development, meet weekly with a qualified supervisor and have professional liability insurance cover.
I work with:
• Anxiety & Stress
• Depression & Low Mood
• Relationship Issues
• Self-esteem & Identity Issues
• Bereavement
• Childhood Trauma & Attachment Issues
• Life Transitions & Personal Growth
Practice description
We will work together to uncover the underlying causes of emotional distress and identify how past experiences are influencing your present-day challenges.
By building a therapeutic relationship based on trust and understanding, we can address the root causes of your struggles and work toward lasting, positive change. Over time, these conversations can lead to greater insight and new ways of thinking; and they invariably increase the ability to cope and enable a clearer sense of self to emerge.
My first session
I offer both in-person and online sessions, depending on your preference. Sessions last 50 minutes. I use the first two sessions as an assessment so we can get to know each other and check that we are both happy working together.
Sessions are confidential and tailored to your unique needs. My main work tends to be long-term/open-ended, but short-term is also possible.
I work from a room in my house and also online via Zoom.
