About me and my therapy practice

I am Íø±¬ÃÅ registered integrative therapist, with 12 years + experience as a practitioner. I specialise in working in the outdoors in walk & talk therapy; as a qualified Walk Leader (Lowland Leader through the Mountain Training Association); a qualified Mindfulness Teacher (Mindfulness Association approved teacher) and previously in the field of complementary therapy (Aromatherapy, Shiatsu and TCM).

I have worked in a range of counselling settings including: Rape and Sexual Abuse and Complex Trauma; Bereavement; Outdoor Activity Programs; Private Practice; and Modern Slavery and Trafficking. As an integrative therapist, I work on the basis that different people will need support in different ways at different times and I enjoy working with clients in ways that will support this.

I understand that clients come to counselling for many different reasons, such as traumatic life events, internal struggles, making sense of experiences in earlier life, finding a way through challenging life changes, or develop coping strategies to navigate stressful living in the 21st century. I will offer you a safe and confidential space to support you in making sense of your feelings, thoughts and experiences.

I work with a range of experiences and concerns including: anxiety, low mood, relational trauma, bereavement, work pressures, life changes, identity, personal growth, relationship issues and relationship with nature.

In our sessions, I will use all my training, experience and ongoing study to work with you towards an understanding of the concerns that bring you to therapy. I will use a whole body approach to listening in a deep, accepting way and use my skills in person centred therapy, combined with my training and experience in mindful self-compassion, Parts Approach (IFS), TA, CBT, neuroscience and ecotherapy to work with you and help you to reach your goals.

Practice description

Since qualifying, I have been in practice for over 12 years, with over 7 years’ experience, as a walk leader and mindfulness teacher, working with individuals and groups in the outdoors, having undergone further training in outdoor therapy.

These days, I offer indoor/outdoor sessions from a beautiful setting near Mold with the Clwydian Hills as a backdrop. I usually start indoors with clients and a decision may be made to take the sessions outdoors, in a variety of settings, ranging from a gentle walk, talk, sit and so on, to various walk and talk routes initially selected by me as appropriate, with different routes picked from a selection by the client as sessions progress. For more information on my indoor/outdoor way of working, please visit my website.

Since 2020, following further CPD in working remotely, I have also been working with people via telephone or zoom and this has also become a valuable part of the ways I work with clients.

I am an integrative therapist, holding the view that different approaches each have much to offer a client at different times and in the ever-changing moments of working together. I will work with you to agree the approach that most suits you in our work together.

In my experience, I have found therapy to work best when we feel we are in a safe, confidential space and secure base from which to explore whatever is blocking us and holding us back from feeling we are able to move forward in our lives.

My first session

I offer an initial 20min telephone call during which I hope to begin to gain an understanding of what is bringing you to therapy and to gain a sense of whether my way of working will feel like a good fit for you. In this initial telephone call, I’m happy to answer any questions you might have about me, my qualifications and experience and also about how we might work together.

The first session can then be in-person or remote (via zoom or telephone). In this first session, we will be able to get a more comprehensive understanding of the difficulties you are bringing to work through in therapy and to agree on a collaborative plan for our work together.
